William Bogard was born on 30 April 1803 at Washington County, Tennessee.4,8,3 He was the son of Abraham Bogart and Elizabeth Duncan.4,5,6,7,2,3 Abraham Bogard posted a marriage bond for William Bogard and Polly Preston on 7 September 1820 in Kingston, Roane County, Tennessee.1,9 William Bogard died on 7 July 1863 at Pike County, Illinois, at age 60 years, 2 months and 7 days.10,3 William Bogard died in 1865 at Pike County, Illinois, at age 61 years.11,10 William Bogard died in January 1882 at Wright County, Missouri, at age 78 years and 8 months.10 William Bogard was buried at Green Pond Cemetery, Pearl, Pike County, Illinois.10
William Bogard was also known as William Bogart.12,13 Found on Franklin County, Indiana's 1st tax list of 1811 (family lore).

As told by George Washington Bogart in the "BOGART-BALL LINEAGE":
"William, my grandfather, was born in January 1803, and grew up on his father's farm to the age of 20 (1823) and was married to Mary Preston, of English and Scotch parentage. She was born in March 1803. They secured land in Tennessee where they spent most of their life. They eventually moved to Pike County, Illinois where they died. Their family consisted of seven boys and four girls as follows according to their ages: George, Jane, Charles, William, Henry, Sarah, Moses, Margaret, Andrew, Elisha.

My grandfather late in life sold his farm in Tennessee and moved to Pine County, Illinois, where he died in 1865."

COMMENT: It is indicated that William's father was also William Bogart (b. 1760 in Virginia) who moved to East Tennessee. This is in conflict with the existing lineage, with Abraham Bogart as father of William (b. 1803).
