Patrick was big in National Democratic Party - Killed in famous train crash in Litchfield, Il on his way to 1902 Democratic National Convention. Some connection with California. Comments: have just started research on my maternal grandfather Michael O'Keefe (Keeffe) born Cloughleigh, Parish of Golden Co. Tipp on 20Jan1870 to Michael Keefe (farmer) and Margaret Scanlan. Michael married Julia O'Sullivan in Brisbane on 11Feb1907 after he had brought out all his brothers and sisters and cousins (Scanlans) and had them settled in jobs or married. He died in Brisbane 25May1922. Any info would be appreciated.

Comments: Hi Joe, This is one of the better sites that I have found on the O'Keefe family. My family is originally from Cobh ,County Cork. My cousin has published a good book on the O'Keefe family called `Once Apon a Country Lane`. .His name is Gary Ogilvy and I believe it is available in most university libraries in the US and Canada. Lots of research and humorous stories. Definitely worth the read. Tons of info.

I have to look up my exact dates and names of my Margaret O'Keefe but Margaret O'Keefe (later married Michael O'Mahony), b. about 1850, where?, but married Michael in Kincora, Ontario, Canada. On her death certificate, they gave David O'Keefe and Ellen Brown as her parents. I have not researched this much beyond that. Must learn how to get information in Ontario. But I will. Comments: I am researching the Keefe's in Rensselaer County, NY. My great-grandfather,Thomas Keefe's death certificate from Albany County, NY, lists his father as Michael Keefe born in Ireland. Thomas was born in Rensselaer County between 1858 and 1862. As yet I have been unable to get any information on Michael beyond that. Thomas'mother's name was not mentioned. In the course of my research I transcribed all the O'Keefe, O'Keeffe, Keefe, Kief, Keef, Quif names from the seven volume set of books listing Irish Immigrants arriving between 1846 and 1852 in an Excel program and generated lists sorting by first name, ship's name, occupation, etc. I would be happy to share this information with whomever might like it.Just send me an email the the names of the person or persons you are researching and I will email you that info.
