Gravesend

Gravesend above about 1870. This was the jumping off point for our family in 1864 when Isaac's parents left England, also the arriving and departure point when Isaac and his parents went back to the UK in 1871.

This map shows London where Isaac and his family arrive on the Thames at Gravesend, and the distance they would have had to travel to Shrewsbury in Shropshire. Most probably they would have also gone up to Yorshire as the family originally came from here and there would have been relations to visit.

The Bradley's and Longbottom's and of course Clough relations who unfortually I have yet to find. They where all living in Bradford Yorkshire 8 miles from Leeds. They would have been Isaac, Annie and Margaret's first cousins, then of course all the uncles and aunts that they would only meet once in their lifetime. One cousin Samuel Longbottom emigrated to Australia and the descendants live in NSW today.
