West Coast South Island of New Zealand with the Southern Alps

The Southern Alps of New Zealand is the back bone of the South Island, running from Fiordland in the South to Collingwood in the north. Around 600km of National parks, reserves and rainforest. Of course there are farms and towns on the coast with the main three being Westport,Greymouth, and Hokitika. The Westcoast of New Zealand is the only place in the world where glaciers meet rainforest. The rain fall is high and they talk of metres in some places of the coast especially Fiordland. The Coast is a rain forest and anyone visiting the South Island of New Zealand it is a must to visit.
There are six main National Parks on the coast, in the north Paparoa National Park, Arthurs Pass, Mt Cook, South Westland, Mt Aspiring and Fiordland. There are also hundreds of senic reserves dotted along the coast, with the coast line being as rugged as anywhere in the world. It is a wild and wonderful place. When it is pouring with rain, mist in the valleys, snow on the mountains it is good to be alive.
