St. Mary's Cemetery Last update 05-Apr-2002 12:40 PM |
|
Location notes: (supplied by Laurel Baker)
It's inside the city of Marion, on the north west corner of the
intersection of Mt Vernon Boulevard and Delaware Avenue (old route 423).
It's catty cornered to the Harding Memorial so if they follow the signs
to it they'll find it without any problems. The Marion Cemetery is on
the North East Corner of the same intersection, the Harding Memorial is
on the South East Corner, and the Veterans Memorial Park (with memorials
to all wars) is on the South West corner. The St Mary's Cemetery has no
on-site office, everything is handled from the St Mary's Parish office
downtown at 251 Main St, telephone # 740 387-4405. |

in the Catholic part of Marion Cemetery but it was moved with the other
stones (and as many bodies as they could still locate) across the street
to St. Mary's when it first opened (year unknown but I can find out if
you need to know). Marion Cemetery started using the old Catholic part
of their cemetery again a few years ago. When they dig a new grave any
old bones they find are taken across to St Mary's and re-interred with
appropriate blessings by the church. I'm e-mailing the priest tonight,
and so long as he has no objections, I'll |
