Deed Book F, Page 53 To: James Odum (Jr.) From: William C. Hodges 25 Feb. 1816, Wilson Co., TN ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [On side of Deed was written] Deed to James Odum for 50 acres Sanders fork This Indenture made this twenty fifth day of Febuary in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred & sixteen Between Jourdon[?] Ward of the county of Wilson in the state of Tennessee of the one part and James Odom of the county & state afforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jordon Ward for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred & seventy Eight dollars to him in hand paid the receipt of which is here by acknowledged has granted & by these presents do grant bargain & sell convey & con firm[?] to the said James Odom his heirs & assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing fifty acres Situate in the county of Wilson & state afforesaid on the main branch of Sanders fork of Smiths fork Beginning at a Beech and running North one hundred & fifty two poles to a Sycamore & walnut thence East sixteen poles to a beech[?] on the bank of the creek thence up the creek fifty two poles to sugar tree across the creek at the mouth of a branch thence up the branch ninety six poles to Hickory on _____[?] corner thence south fifty two poles to Buckeye thence west ninety six poles to the first station containing fifty acres be the same more or less to have & to hold the afforesaid fifty acres of land with all the right and profits Estates & here administrators/aclaments[?] appertaining thereto, to him the said James Odom his heirs & assigns forever & the said Jordon Ward lands himself his heirs Executors & administrators or assigns forever to warrant and defend against all the lawful claims & demands of any person or persons whatsoever In witness of which the said Jordon Ward hath hereunto set his hand and seal on the said twenteeth sixth day of Febuary 1816 Signed Sealed & delivered in the presence of us Chrisopher Cooper Jurat ) Everett Rogers ) Jordan Ward Seal ) John Mcmin Jurat ) State of Tennessee ) Wilson County court ) March Term 1816 the within deed of bargain & sale from Jordan Ward to James Odom for fifty acres of land was exhibited in open court & proven by the oaths of Christopher Cooper & John Mcmin two of the witnesses thereto & or dered to be registered Test John Allcorn clerk of Wilson County court Registered the 3rd day of April 1816 Test Henry Ross Register of Wilson County ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ACKNOWLEDGMENTS: This deed transcribed as found to the best of our abilities - Betty (McCORMICK) ST. ADDITIONAL NOTES by Gloria: This James ODOM/ODUM, Jr. is known to be the son of James ODOM, Sr. who married Ann(e). James ODOM, Jr. married Mary CRISP in probably NC. They had several children there, then moved to Wilson Co., TN. With boundary changes, James' property in Wilson Co., TN became a part of Cannon Co., TN. There is an ODOM CEMETERY today, in Cannon Co., TN that is possibly on the property purchased by this James.
