Leopold Obreiter

Leopold Obreiter was born on August 23, 1847 in Philadelphia, PA.

He enlisted in the 29th Massachusetts Infantry on August 18th, 1864, as a substitute. He rose through the ranks, and was mustered out as a Sergeant. He subsequently enlisted in the 6th Regiment, US Infantry, and served another 6 years. He was discharged January 10, 1872 at Fort Hays, Kansas. He subsequently took up farming, first tilling the land in Illinois, and later Oklahoma.

Leopold's first wife, Emma Irvin, died shortly after the birth of their first son, Leslie Herman. Leslie died a few months later.

His second wife, Florence Smith, had five children.

Leopold died December 11, 1930, and is buried at Fairlawn Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
