Many of this area's old settler families are located here. Many are of second generation, their parents being buried on the homestead yards. Many are listed amoung the early settlers of the Brookfield area of NY. Here you will find many family names that are still common in NY and Rhode Island; Crandall, Clark, Chesebrough, Denison, Welch, Babcock, Burdick, Maxson and many others. |

![]() Amos Welch May 18, 1779 - March 14, 1851 Son of Charles Welch and Sally Taylor whose grave are located at the Welch family farm site at Button Falls - Button Falls Rd. |
![]() Edith Denison Welch Feb. 2, 1787 - Aug. 23, 1853 Daug. of George Denison and Bethiah Crandall |
![]() Amos and Edith's graves are enclosed in a little ornate fence in a high Victorian style. There is a lot of writing on the stones, but the inscriptions are worn and very hard to read. Next time I go for a visit, I will try to remember to bring gear for stone rubbings. |
This marker is on the ground, behind and leaning against Amo's stone. It must have fallen off the gate at some point in time. It is really very nice and in excellent condition. |
The fence can be seen from the entrance into the yard. It sits up fairly high on the hill. There are some stairs up to the site. |
