The history of my Lorring family in New England starts with Thomas his wife, Jane Newton, and their daug. Mary. Thomas Loring born abt. 1575, he came to New England from Axminster, Devonshire, in England. He is found in Hingham in 1635. Thomas died Sept. 4. 1661 in Hull, Plymouth Mass. Mary's mother Jane Newton, who may have come from Devon, England, was born Apr. 21, 1571. died in Hull, Plymouth Mass. aug. 25, 1672. Thomas' father was Anthony Loring 1549-1573, of Devon, England.

Thomas is refered to as Dea. Thomas Loring in some of the records I have found, and I have seen four other children mentioned. They may have additional children, the reference I found unfortunalty lists only male children.
They are; Thomas, Benjamin, Josiah, and John.

Mary was born abt. 1615 in Dorset, England and died Sept. 9, 1672 in Wenham, Mass.
Mary married John Abbe, the first Abbe to come to New England. They produced many descendants of substance through the course of New England's history. Among them were founders of new towns, numerous soldiers and leaders during the many and various wars, all which helped to shaped North America.

I don't have much on the Loring family yet, but I did find a letter that was written on the behalf of a Mahitable Warran, who lived in Plimouth in 1708/9 and was accused of witchcraft. There are a few Lorings who signed their names to it in support of this woman.
