The history of my Denison family in New England starts with William who was bapt. in Stortford (Stratford) Eng, Feb. 3, 1571. He married Margaret (Chandler) Monck in Stortord, Eng., Nov. 7, 1603.
The name Denison appears in various ways; Denyson, Dennyson, Denizen, Denizon.

William was the son of John Denyson who was living at Stortford in 1567 and died there of plague, he was buried Dec. 4, 1582. He married Agnes Willie, who remarried to John Gace on May 3, 1584. Gace's will was proved in 1602, and he mentions George, Edward and William Denyson, children of my wife, also Elizabeth Crouch, a daughter of my wife.

Children John and Agnes Denyson are :
1. LUCE, bapt. 1567, buried at Stortford Dec. 9, 1582.
2. WILLIAM, bapt. at Stortford Feb. 3, 1571.
3. EDWARD, bapt. at Stortford April 6, 1575.

6. GEORGE, bapt. at Stortford March 17, 1582.

William Denison m. Margaret (Chandler) Monck at Stortford, Eng., Nov. 7, 1603. William settled in Roxbury, Mass., where he was a merchant and Representative. He lived there until his death on Jan. 25, 1653, Margaret died 8 years before in 1645. He seems to have been doing well in Stratford, but decided to become a planter in New England. He called his son Daniel home from Cambridge and in 1631, he and family became a part of the great migration to New England. The family of travelers consisted of William and Margaret, their son Daniel, about 19 years old, and the two younger sons, Edward and George. John the eldest son, who was married and well situated at the time, stayed behind. John later became Vicar at Standon, in Hartfordshire from 1660-1670.
