Nathaniel Bearding - From various sources

The history of my Bearding family in New England starts with Nathaniel Bearding and his first wife, who's name I have not located yet. At this point in time I have very little on this family. The name Bearding appears in some of the early records as Barding, Berdin, and Bardon. It is noted that he was a gentleman of good standing in he colony.

Nathaniel married for his second wife Abigail Graves, a widow of William Andrews. They probably married after 1659 if the LDS death date is correct for William. Abigail was born about 1610 and died March 20, 1682/3. Nathaniel died Sept. 11, 1674.

He was in Hartford in 1636, but not an original proprietor, having land only "by the courtesie of the town".

In 1640 his home lot contained 6 acres and "was in the brow of the hill, now called Asylum Hill"
In 1649 he was fined 10s for sleeping when on watch.
In 1658 he was chosen townsmen. And he (Berdin) along with George Graves and others complained to the Gen. Court against Mr. Webster & the withdrawers at Hartford.
In 1666 he was a surveyor of highways.

I descend from Sarah, a his daug. by his first wife, a who was born abt. 1623 and married Thomas Spencer about 1645.

4. SARAH, b. say 1646; m. by 1667 Thomas Huxley (on 26 March 1667 John Winthrop Jr. treated "Huxlye, Sarah, above 20 years, wife of Thomas Huxly of Hartford & daughter of Sergeant Thomas Spencer of Hartford".
5. ELIZABETH, bp. 26 March 1648 m. Samuel Andrews, son of William Andrews.
6. JARED, b. say 1650; m. Hartford 22 December 1680 Hannah Pratt, daughter of John.
7. HANNAH, b. Hartford 15 April 1653; said to have married (1) George Sexton, (2) Daniel Brainerd and (3) Jonathan Chapman, but the secondary sources are vague and uncertain, and the evidence for these marriages has not been found.
8. MARY, b. Hartford May 18, 1655 m. Thomas Root October 7, 1675 .
9. MARTHA, b. Hartford 19 March 1657[/8] m. Andrew Benton, son of Andrew Benton .
