The history of my Abby family in New England starts with John Abby who came on the Bonaventure Jan. 2, 1634. He was an early settler of Wenham, Mass. John was born abt. 1613 in Norwich, Norfolk, England, and died abt. 1689 in Salem, Massachusetts. He married Mary Loring abt. 1635 in Salem , Massachusetts.
Mary was born abt. 1615 in Dorset, England and died Sept. 9, 1672 in Wenham, Mass. Mary's father was Thomas Loring born abt. 1575, and died Sept. 4. 1661 in Hull, Plymouth Mass. Mary's mother was Jane Newton, who may have come from Devon England, and died in Hull, Plymouth Mass.
John is listed in a number of land transactions in Salem. He lived in the part of Salem which was incorporated into Wenham in 1643. After Mary died in 1672, he married again, on Nov. 25, 1674, Mary Goldsmith, who was probably the widow of Richard Goldsmith.
My line descends from John through his son Thomas who married Sarah Fairfield.
