ELIJAH CREED AND SOME OF HIS DESCENDANTS

 by Ocie Creed

I  am a descendant of Elijah Creed Sr. I do not know who his parents were or where and when he was born.  He was probably born ca 1750.  He married Mary Rucker, daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Terrill) Rucker. I do not have their marriage date or where they were married. (The Rucker and Terrill family lines are well documented.)  Elijah and Mary's residences were Orange Co VA (1781), Surry Co NC (1782), Fayette Co KY (1788), Shelby Co KY (1800), and Woodford Co KY (1810).    I believe they both died in KY. Mary Rucker Creed possibly died before 1810.   Their known children:

            1.  Augustin Creed.  Born 5 Oct 1778, possibly NC.  Died 24 Oct 1855, Grayson, Clinton Co MO. Married 21 Oct 1805 in Bedford Co VA to Rosamond Cowherd (daughter of Reuben Cowherd) who was born ca 1781 in Bedford Co VA and died ca 1842-1850 in MO.

            2.  Elijah Creed Jr.  Born 21 Aug 1779.  Died Aug-Sep1829 Rails (Monroe) Co MO.   Married first 25 Feb 1802 to Mary Taylor (daughter of William Taylor).  Married second 12 Aug 1806 to Elizabeth Beasley  (daughter of Benjamin Beasley).

            3.   Margaret Creed.  Born Sep 1785. Died 6 Aug 1873 Highland Co OH.  Married 12 Oct 1810 in Woodford Co KY to Matthew Creed Jr, son of Matthew Creed SR of Monroe Co VA/Highland Co OH. Resident Highland Co OH.

            4.   Nancy Creed.  Born ca 1791 KY.  Died 4 Jun 1866 in Highland Co OH.   Married 17 Sep 1817 in Versailles, Woodford Co OH to David Carlisle Creed, son of Matthew Creed SR of Monroe Co VA/Highland Co OH. Resident of Highland Co OH.

According to Lou Randall, the Elizabeth Creed who married John W Lynch on 4 Feb 1822 in Henry Co KY could possibly be a daughter of Elijah Creed Sr.    It is possible.   I wonder who was the bondsman for her at the time of marriage.

It is suggested that Elijah Creed Jr and
