Viola Clark Brigner's father apparently served in the Civil War. Her mothe r, Amanda Clark, was listed on an 1890 list of Surviving Sailors, Soldier s, Marines, and Widows in Pike County. Her father died of internal injuri es when he was thrown from a horse.

«b»Death of Mrs. Kenton
«/b»Mrs. Rachel Ann Kenton, widow of the late Gabriel Kenton, died at her home on South Main street Sat. urday morning at half past one o'clock after a five weeks illness caused by pneumonia and heart trou-ble. Mrs. Kenton was 76 years old age and was born in Virginia. She located here when quite young. Mrs. Kenton is survived by five children, they being Levi, John and Frank Brown and Mrs. Jennie Dunlap, of this city, and Mrs. Mary Ward of Magrew. The fu-neral was held Monday afternoon from the family residence, the interment being made at Oak Dale cemetery.

[HI36670] (Research):PARKER BRYAN, farmer and miller; P. O. Urbana We take pleasure in writi ng the biography of this gentleman, who has so long been a resident of Cha mpaign County, and reminiscences gleaned from him are reliable. He is at t his time 59 years of age, having been born April 21, 1821, and has liv ed in this county since his birth. His father, Levi Bryan, was a nati ve of Virginia, and came here in 1812. He purchased the southeast quart er of Section 35, in Urbana Township, of a Mr. Olivar, who had previous ly entered it. He had no means at his disposal when he first came to th is county, but worked by the day, and, although wages were small, contriv ed to save money enough to buy the tract above named, which was largely ad ded to until he was, at the time of his death, the owner of 670 acre s. He married Rachel Powell, and they had eight children, four dying in in fancy. The survivors all live in this county-Mary A., the wife of Gabri el Kenton ; Parker (our subject), John H. wedded Elizabeth Grove, and Rach el E., who married T. I. Oroark. Levi Bryan devoted his time to improvi ng his land, and dealing in stock, and of course did much in this way to h elp develop the country, which was almost a wilderness. His death occurr ed in 1852, and his wife's in 1859. When Parker, our subject, was 15 yea rs of age, he commenced dealing in stock on a small scale; as he grew in y ears he engaged in other business, and when he was 21 years of age, by h is own efforts, he was possessor of $1,750. In 1852, be was married to Rac hel A. Grove; subsequently, in connection with his brother John and other s, a tannery in Urbana, and a distillery and mill in Clark County was carr ied on. In 1856, Parker purchased his present farm, upon which was built t he first distillery in the county, owned by David Kite. It was a small str ucture built of logs, the product. of which hardly sufficed for home consu mption. Farmers carried in their jugs, to which was attached a card bearing their name and the number of their order. Freq uently they would have to wait a week to have it filled. Mr. Bryan now car ries on the milling business in connection with his farm, and does cust om work. This is of great convenience to farmers. Since his earliest recol lection, a mill has occupied the present site, the first being built of lo gs. Mr. and Mrs. Bryan have five children living-Levi, Mary E., Emma V., J ohn H. and Frank G.; the three eldest are married, The farm now owned by M r. Bryan is one of the finest tracts in the Mad River Valley ; it is espec ially well adapted for grazing, and is very desirable. He has cheerfully a ided in the giving of facts connected with the early history of the townsh ip, and is withal one of the most cordial gentlemen we have met. His grand father, John Bryan, came from England as a British soldier during the Revo lutionary war. His native country was Ireland, and his wife was a nati ve of Wales, whose maiden name was Parker.

About two weeeks ago Mr Bryan stepped throu gh a hole in the mow floor, which gave him severe nervous shock; nothing s erious was expected until about a week ago when he was seized with alarmi ng symptoms which continued to worsen until Monday when he died. He was bo rn Champ Co 21st Paril 1821; his father LEvi Bryan was a Virginian and ca me to the state in 1812. Parker Bryan married Rachel A Grove. He form ed a partnership with his brother John Bryan and others and managed a tann ery in Urbana and a distillery in Clark Co.

[HI36733] (Research):Seeking info on parents, birthdate, etc. of Lydia Baker, the first wi fe of my GGG Grandfather John Grisso (1818-1870). John and Lydia were marr ied 29 Apr 1841 in Clark Co. They had two children, Jacob born Feb 1842 w ho married Anna Frantz (dau of Joel Frantz and Mary Neher), and Sarah Ja ne born 16 Feb 1844 who married Henry Leffel. Lydia died about 1844, possi bly in childbirth. Where is she buried?

Jacob and Sarah were said to have been raised by Lydia's relatives, b ut I could not find them with any Baker family in the 1850 or 1860 censu s, so they may have been raised by a sister of Lydia. Jacob died 1 Dec 19 19 in Clark Co, and Sarah Jane Grisso Leffel died 28 Jul 1925, also in Cla rk Co. Does anyone have access to Clark Co obituaries from that time fram e?

My line is from John's second marriage, to Saloma Frantz, but I would li ke to get some more data about Lydia to complete the family group for John 's first marriage.

Marriage of John Grisso to Lydia Baker listed on page 42, Volume 2, F. thr ough L, of Early Marriage Bonds of Ohio.

The John Grisso family moved from Clark County, Ohio to Indiana, probab ly Wabash County, sometime between 1850 and 1855. We have not found an 18 60 census record for them.

The profile of the John Grisso & Sarah Frantz family in Binnie's "Early Br ethren Families..." says that 5 children were born to John & Sarah, and th at Amanda was a half-sister of the other 5 children listed in the 1870 cen sus, but this seems inconsistent with census and marriage records. "History of Clark County, Ohio", page 218, says that John was the fath er of thirteen children, but does not mention how many by each wife, nor g ive any of their names. He probably really had fewer than 13 children. Notes for Lydia Baker There is no burial for Lydia listed in the Dore M. Frantz burials documen t.

[HI36743] (Research):Joseph committed suicide In March 1897. Not too long after, Senora must h ave moved to the Buffalo N. York area and she re-married Isaac Whitloc k. I have a copy of her obit and don't know which newspaper it is from. s he died 08,22,1912. I rather think it happened in the Buffalo area.

Obit WHITELOCK-----Entered into rest, in this city, Aug 22,1912, Senora L. wi fe of Isaac Whitelock (nee Dobbins) mother of Mrs. Fred Piper, Mrs. Alv in Wright, and Miss Laura Dobbins of Buffalo: Mrs. Harvey Youngpeters ( my grandmother) Toledo, O;Mrs. William Mintemute, Bridgeburg, Ont and M rs William Huffman, Niagara Falls. The funeral will be held from the fami ly residence, 304 Fourteenth st, Sunday Afternoon, Aug 25, at 2 o'cloc k. Friends are invited to attend. Funeral Car. Bellefontaine, O, papers p lease copy.

WHITELOCK- In loving memory of our dear mother, Mrs. I. Whitelock (nee Dob bins) who departed this life Aug 22,1912: One year has passed and still we miss her- Oh for the touch of a vanished hand. And the sound of a voice that is still.
Her Loving Daughters

I received a death certificate from the State of New York. It is of Seno ra Dobbins Whitelock. On the certificate it states that her father name w as J. M. HORD. born in Ohio and her mother Mary BINAM. Now, I got o ut my paper work from probate court in Bellefontaine with the birth notati on of my grandmother and upon really studying the maiden name of Senor a, it could be HORD. That is where I got the name WARD from. Anyho w, it also states that she was born in Illinois. I can't decipher the na me of the place as the ink is rather smeared. The informant was her seco nd husband Isaac. In the census sheets that I have seen, she states that s he was born in Ohio, so there is a discrepancy there. Now, I am thinki ng that the Mary that was living with Joseph and Senora in Bellefontai ne in 1880 was HER mother Mary. I am assuming ( shouldn't really assu me in genealogy) that the first husband died ( Senoras dad) and Mary re-ma rried someone named Williams.and came to live with Senora and Joseph. Senora was living with one of her daughters Minnie and her husband Alvin W right in 1900 Buffalo City. Along with them were Senora, daughter Grace a nd Daisy. I believe Laura was in Chicago living in a rooming house worki ng as a clerk in furniture store. I know Clara was married to Fred Pip er and she was susposed to be in Buffalo also. Nathan Carder's grandmother was supposed to be a full-blooded Cherokee nam ed Gooseberry. Now, this doesn't prove any Indian blood but the old fami ly Bible, which disappeared after my great uncle's death but his sister, t he great aunt I have who is still living and my dad both remember seeing t his bible years ago and it had her name as Gooseberry and we had assumed t hat this was John Carder's mother, not thinking that it could have been El iza's mother and Goldsberry is as close to Gooseberry as I have ever foun d. I did see another marriage between a Carder and a Goldsberry and sin ce we know that there were marriages between the Carders and Dobbins, it m akes sense that members of both of those families would have also marri ed into the same Goldsberry family. It has been my theory for a long to me that the name ws Goldsberry, not Gooseberry. Unfortunately, Eliza's de ath certificate seems to no longer exist. I ahve been to the Logan Co. He alth Dept., wrote the state health dept., and Ohio Historical Society a nd none have one on her, only her burial permit which does not list parent s. This makes me believe even more that I am right that Nelson is Eliza 's brother and that Gooseberry was Goldsberry and was her mother. dcarder @bright.net (Deborah Carder)

Landmark Due To Be Razed
One of Mechanicsburg's oldest landmarks- the old A M Cheney home south of town soon will be razed to make way for a modern ranch type structure. Noted for its ballroom on the third floor, the home, now owned by Gale W Boosinger, was the scene of many dances sponsored by the Cheney family 50 years ago. The old structure has 12 1/2 foot ceilings. The Cheneys owned 900 acres of farm land behind the home before the turn of the century.

Mechanicsburg Telegram April 11, 1957
«b»MODERN RESIDENCE DUE TO REPLACE "CHENEY'S FOLLY
«/b»When an old three-story brick landmark on the southern edge of town is torn down in a few weeks to make way for a modern ranch home, it will mark the end of "Cheney's Folly."
A showplace of the Gay 90's and the Roaring 20's, the house was generally referred to in these irreverent terms by those who considered it unnecessarily ornate for a farm home of that day. The dwelling was erected soon after the Civil War by Asa Milton Cheney, who had amassed 940 acres of surrounding farm land in his prime, then saw it slip away.
Before he settled down and built the house, Cheney was a "49'er." He joined the gold rush to California with others from the Mechanicsburg area, spending 3 years in the west before returning home with little to show for his trouble. He died in 1905.
MANY GAY TIMES
Three sons live here. They are Pearl 79, Joe 88, and Milton 84. Another son, William, 86, lives in Terre Haute, md. A daughter, Rebecca, died in 1942. The 'boys' recall many gay times in the big brick house when they were young. There were gay parties and much dancing in the third-floor "ballroom." After the Cheney's relinquished it, "Folly" passed through several hands and was at one time used only as a storage place.

The "ballroom" is somewhat disappointing--very plain and sans the ornate fixtures one might expect. The old circular staircase, 12 1/2 foot ceilings and the monogrammed front door are unusual present daysights.Once there were nine fireplaces on the first and second floors, but they have been plastered over."

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 1908 SUFFERINGS O’RE REST COMES John R. Ross Passes Away at Phoenix, Ariz A VICTIM OF TUBERCULOSIS BORN AND REARED HERE HE LIVED IN URBANA ALL OF HIS LIFE UNTIL POOR HEALTH SENT HIM SOUTH
Was Formerly a Warden in the Church of the Epiphany and w as a Scottish Rite Mason—His Death Brings Sorrow to His Many Friends.
W. R. Ross, cashier of the Champaign National Bank, receiv ed a telegram this morning announcing the death of his son, John R. Ros s, at Phoenix, Ariz. It is expected that Mrs. Ross will start east with t he body at once but no arrangements for the funeral can be completed unt il after her arrival here.
The news of Mr. Ross’s death, while not unexpected, will co me a great shock to his many friends in this city who have inquired consta ntly for work from Phoenix hoping all the while that that word mig ht be to the effect that the climate there was having the desired effe ct on his health. The word never came but instead the word was alwa ys to the effect that conditions were not a promising as Mr. Ross and h is family had hoped for. However, the first intimation that he was danger ously ill came in the form of a telegram received Monday evening at the su pper hour. The word received then was the Mr. Ross was very sick. This m essage was followed by another which reached this city this morning at fo ur o’clock and which told of Mr. Ross’ death which occurred at to o’clo ck Monday evening.

An Urbana Boy.
John R. Ross was born and reared in this city, and lived he re all of his life with the exception of a short period spent in St. Lou is and the last year and a half spent in Arizona and Los Angeles, Ca l. He was 74 years of age on the 21st of last April and is survived by h is wife and one son, Reynolds, aged nine years, and his father, W. R. Ros s, of this city. Following his course of training in the Urbana public sch ools he entered the Champaign National Bank as a bookkeeper and held th at position until he resigned to go into the electrical business which to ok him to St. Louis for a short period. He soon returned to this city a nd continued to make Urbana his home until failing health compelled h im to go south. He was employed for several years previous to his leavi ng the city in the office of the Urbana Egg Case Company. It was in the s pring of 1907 that his health failed so much because of tuberculosis th at he was compelled to give up active employment and seek a milder and dry er climate. He went to Phoenix in the spring of 1907, but that summ er he spent in Los Angeles and in September of the same year he visited h is home in this city for a short period. He remained in Phoenix until th is spring when he went back to Los Angeles and remained there until a we ek ago when the return trip to Phoenix was made. the family was en rou te gave the relatives her the impression that he was standing the trip we ll but he didn’t. He became very much worse upon his arrival in Phoenix a nd his strength was too far gone to longer resist the ravages of the disea se, which had been slowly but surely wearing him away.
The decedent was one of the city’s best know young men and pre vious to his health failing he was prominent in church and musicale circl es. He was at one time a warden it the Church of the Epiphany and his exc ellent bass voice had much to do with creating the excellent standard of m usic heard there. He also belonged to Harmony Lodge No. 8, F. and A.M. a nd other higher bodies, being a Scottish Rite Mason. He was married in Se ptember 1893 to Miss Lydia Spain, who has been faithful and constant in h er ministrations to him. Mrs. Spain was also with him during the early pa rt of his stay in the southwest bus she is at present at the home of her s isters in Geauga county.
The news of Mr. Ross’s death while not unexpected will bring s orrow to many people in this city as he was strong in his friendships a nd possessed a personality and a good fellowship that won and held him ma ny friends. His wife and little son and his father will have the sympat hy of all of these in the hour of their deep affliction.

He married Mary Dobbins Steen on April 27, 1868 in Champaign County. I ca n't remember if I have him on the 1870. I'll have to look. I have his ci vil war pension papers and I've been to his grave in Christiansburg, Champ aign County. On the 1860, his first wife was still living. That rais ed a new question. My gg grandfather, John M. Carder, had a sister named N ancy. She was age 8 on the 1850 census. That is all I have on her. I ju st found Mercer on the 1860 this week. Now, his first wife was named Nan cy and she was 19 on the 1860. I am wondering if she was Nancy Carder (so metimes spelled Carter on old records) . Since I just found this, I haven 't been able to check Green County marriages to see if there is one f or a Mercer or Messer Beason or Beeson and Nancy Carder or Carter. I'm al so trying to figure out which Beason was Mercer's father. The Carders, Do bbins, Steens, Harness, and Beasons all intermarried. John M. Carder w as married 3 times between 1847 & 1855. First, to Elizabeth Steen, then Ca roline Morris. They both died young, and then to Eliza Jane Dobbins who w as his wife nearly 60 years. John's sister, Adaline married Thomas Ste en and John's sister, Susan married Moses Steen. Iassume they were Elizab eth's brothers but I don't know who their parents were. Susan Carder Ste en died young. Moses Steen then married Mary Dobbins, sister of Eliza Ja ne Dobbins Carder. John M. Carder, Moses Steen, and Nelson Dobbins all en listed at Troy, Miami County in Co. I, 71st OVI. Moses died in the war a nd Mary Dobbins Steen then married Mercer Beason, also spelled 'Messer' a nd 'Mosser' on some records. Now, Eliza Jane and Mary had a sister, Ann M ariah Dobbins who married Jacob Harness. Jacob's mother was Frances Beaso n. Frances' father was named Mercer Beason but my Mercer is not her broth er but I'm sure that my Mercer is related to Frances Beason Harness in so me way. I have her brothers' names but have not been able to check y et to see if any of them could have been my Mercer's father. There are de finitely relationships among these families, though.

[HI37285] (Research):Researcher- Rodger Halstead Santa Barbara, California rhalstead@cox.net Info provided from ROger 10/2005 The information that I have on Timothy Merica comes primarily from his Civ il War service records and his application for veteran’s pension both of w hich I acquired from The National Archives.

Timothy married by great-great grandmother, Margaret Van Horn. Our family ’s legend, passed down to me by my mother, was that Timothy went to the Ci vil War and never returned to Margaret. The records show that he did retu rn after the Civil War to Margaret and that my great-grandmother, Isado re Caroline Merica (always known as Carrie) was born in Covington, Miami C ounty, Ohio on November 22, 1867.

At some point, Timothy did abandon the family and move West. The 1921 pens ion records state that Timothy did not divorce Margaret. Margaret remarri ed later but her new husband rejected Timothy’s daughter, Carrie. Carrie w as placed in an orphanage in Greene County, Ohio. Margaret moved to Michig an with her new husband.

What follows is my summary of information on Timothy’s Civil War service a nd Pension Application records:

Born: February 20, 1837, Champaign County, Ohio Died: November 19, 1923 in Milford, Nebraska Buried: Milford, Nebraska

Married: 1. Margaret Van Horn (when and where are unknown) - ap pears from 1921 document for Civil War pension filed by Timothy that he w as separated from Margaret and may not have divorced he r. In a document filed with the Bureau of Pension s, in 1898, Timothy did not indicate that he had married Margaret or th at he had children from marriage with Margaret.

2. Sarah Pierre (uncertain of spelling) Marri ed in Missouri but Timothy indicated that there was no record of this marr iage. Died before 1898

Occupation: Stone mason, as listed on military documents. Howev er he will also mine coal and operate a press turner for a newspaper. Evid ently, Timothy worked as a manual laborer throughout his lifetime.

Miscellaneous: Timothy was 6 feet tall, eyes were gray, complexion was da rk and hair was gray (obtained from military records) ______________________________________________________________

What follows is information derived from the records from The National Arc hives records on Timothy Merica’s applications for military pensions becau se of his service in the Civil War. In some cases the information was in T imothy’s own handwriting (his spelling was very poor which seems to indica te a very limited education), other information was provided under notariz ed conditions by friends or employers and some information was from milita ry sources. In total there were fourteen pages of 11x14 size. Timothy’s so ldier’s certificate was #287138 and the information was in can #5755, bund le #16.

Timothy Merica enlisted in the Union army at the post office in Millersto wn (Champaign County) Ohio. He was inducted into the army at Columbus, Oh io on April 18, 1861.(The Confederates fired on Fort Sumter, South Caroli na on April 12, 1861 and on April 15, 1861 President Lincoln called for 75 ,000 volunteers. Thus, Timothy was in the very first wave of voluntee rs to the Union cause during the Civil War) He was inducted into Company “ F’ of the 11th Ohio Volunteers for a period of three months. He was se nt to Camp Dennison for his training and appointed a corporal immediatel y. (Camp Dennison was located near Cincinnati, Ohio.) According to a bunkm ate of Timothy’s, they were drilled almost constantly and Timothy suffer ed because of leg problems. He went to see the Regimental surgeon in Jun e, 1861 and was treated for varicose veins in the army hospital at Camp De nnison. According to Thomas McNair, the bunkmate, Timothy suffered from t he varicose veins throughout his military service. During July and Augu st 1861, Timothy will again be treated by the Regimental Surgeon for leg v aricose veins in West Virginia. On June 20, 1961 at Camp Dennison, Timot hy will enlist in the army for three years. During the months of Novemb er and December 1862, Timothy was granted a furlough in Piqua, Ohio (no re ason given). He was reduced in rank August 21, 1862 because he had been ab sent without leave. On September 1, 1862 Timothy was reappointed corpor al for meritorious service. He was mustered out of the army on June 20, 18 64 at Camp Dennison. Timothy and his regiment (regiment = 1000; compa ny = 100) fought at Bull Run, Fredrick, Antietam, Chickamauga and other ba ttles. The 11th Ohio and Timothy were a part of Sherman's march through t he South. The last battle for the 11th was at Resaca, Georgia. He enlist ed in “F” company of the 188th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteers on Februa ry 25, 1865. He will be mustered out , with the rest of the company, at Na shville, Tennessee on September 21, 1865. (The end of the Civil War ca me at Appomattox on April 9, 1865)

After leaving the army, Timothy will reside in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Mi ssouri, Kansas and Nebraska.

Sometime after the Civil War, Timothy married a Sarah Pierre (spelling unc ertain) in Missouri. In 1921, Timothy indicated that he was separated fr om his first wife, Margaret Van Horn. In 1898, on an official questionnai re from the Bureau of Pensions, Timothy had not indicated that he had be en married prior to Sarah and only listed his children from his marria ge to Sarah. (I interpret these documents to mean that Timothy did not div orce Margaret. See below for more speculations)

In 1896, Timothy’s employer in Butler, Missouri (Bates County) filed an af fidavit in support of Timothy’s application for disability pension. The em ployer stated that for the past two years, Timothy had been employ ed as a press turner for the Free Press newspaper. The employer indicat ed that Timothy was frequently unable to work because of swollen and infla med feet, legs and hands. As time passed the swelling and inflammati on in his legs would get worse and worse. Apparently Timothy wrapped the l egs and the employer said that when he saw the legs unwrapped that they we re very bad.

At the same time, a Frank Brock, filed an affidavit in support of Timothy ’s application. Frank said that he had known Timothy for about ten years a nd had heard him complain about the disability of his legs and hands. Fra nk indicated that he observed Timothy’s legs badly swollen up to his kne es and the swelling in Timothy’s wrists. Frank considered Timothy as unab le to do manual labor.

In 1903, a Thomas McNair filed an affidavit with the Bureau of Pensions th at indicated that the swelling in Timothy’s legs was the result of almo st constant drilling that “F” company of the 11th Regiment did at Camp Den nison. Thomas was a bunkmate of Timothy and stated that Timothy had h ad no leg problems, varicose vein problems upon entering the military.

Also in 1903, a Homan Stanfield filed an affidavit. In 1903, Homan was liv ing at the National Military Home in Leavenworth, Kansas. Homan said th at he met Timothy in the summer of 1882 in Butler, Missouri. Timothy was m ining coal at the time. Homan noticed that Timothy walked with a limp. Hom an asked about the limp and was told that it was due to sores and ulcers c aused by varicose veins. Homan said he saw the sores and ulcers. Homan a nd Timothy lived in Butler together for about 15 years. A Dr. Renick to ld Homan that Timothy it was doubtful if Timothy would ever recover from t he disease because of the ulcers from varicose veins also diseased by Ecze ma. The doctor said that Timothy was fully 2/3 disabled for the performan ce of manual labor and that “disability was not caused by his own vicio us habits.” (direct quotation from the affidavit - thought the statement w as interesting)

Furthermore, in 1903 an affidavit was filed by a doctor who had examined T imothy in Leavenworth, Kansas. It appears that Timothy was living at a Nat ional Military Home in Leavenworth. The doctor observed varicose vei ns of both legs swollen below the knees. The skin was discolored and le gs swelled every day when Timothy would get up. Furthermore, there were fi ve ulcers on the left leg probably caused by varicose veins. The doctor sa id that Timothy was totally disabled and unable to earn a living by manu al labor.

By June 1921, Timothy was living in the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Milfo rd, Nebraska. Timothy died on November 19, 1923 in the Soldiers' and Sailo rs' Home in Milford. He was 86 years old. The June 1921 document was the l ast document in his file.

SPECULATION: Jane Rodgers Halstead understood that Carrie Merica’s fath er (We know now was Timothy Merica) went to the Civil War and never came b ack. The assumption was that he was killed in the war. If Carrie was bo rn before the Civil War then the story can be explained (Timothy went to t he war, never came back to the family instead he moves onto other area s) . However if Carrie was born in 1867 as her death certificate says th en a different story is true. Timothy did say in an affidavit that he liv ed in Ohio after the Civil War and since the list of states see ms to be in chronological order (Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kans as and Nebraska - the last three are in correct order) then perhaps he ca me back to Margaret at the end of the war. Carrie is born in 1867 and even tually he left and apparently without any divorce from Margaret. Timothy m arried Sarah Pierre in Missouri but we do not know where or when. By Septe mber 1875 he has a daughter by his wife, Sarah - it would be a reasonab le assumption that she was born in Missouri. By 1882, Timothy is livi ng in Butler, Missouri. Prior to living in Butler, he may have lived in In diana and Illinois. After Butler, we know that Timothy lived in Leavenwort h, Kansas then Milford, Nebraska.

[HI37287] (Research):I'm helping another relative with her Merica family, and have traced her J oseph born in 1841 to the Champaign County line. Joseph's father and moth er are listed as Joseph & Amelia and are on the 1850 and 60 census.
