«b»Alice Fern Barger Skidmore, «/b»91, passed away peacefully at her home in Eaton Park, Florida on August 1, 2008 where she was tenderly cared for by her son, Robert and wife Juanita Skidmore.She was born January 20, 1917 to James Isaac and Ida May (Gumpert) Barger of Champaign County, OH. She was the last survivor of a family of eight children. Alice married Robert Maxwell Skidmore March 20, 1937. He preceded her passing July 24, 2002 in Florida. Surviving, besides son Robert and wife Juanita are daughters Shirley Leach and husband Stephen of Jeffersonville, OH and Janet Townsend and husband David of McCormick, SC. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, the Sweet Adeline's, and the Red Hatter's. Alice lived a good life, always smiling. She was an inspiration to all her family and anyone who knew her. She will be missed and always remembered.
Friends and family will gather for grave side services at 10:00 a.m. in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, OH on Saturday August 16th where Alice will be laid to rest beside her loving husband Max.
