Hospital, Cheticamp. Born in Cheticamp, he was a son of the late Walter
and Marguerite (LeBlanc) Chiasson. Surviving are a sister, Marie Helene
Boudreau, Cheticamp. He was predeceased by brothers, William, Jimmie, Lubie,
Wilfred; sisters, Marie Jane, Christie Anne. No visitation by request.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cheticamp Funeral Home
Services Ltd. Memorial service 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp.
Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations to Sacred Heart Hospital

CHIASSON, Andrew E. -
71, Cambridge Suites, formerly of Ferry Street, Sydney, died July 9, 1995, in
Cambridge Suites. Born at Grand Etang, Inverness Co., he was a son of the
late Daniel and Suzanne (AuCoin) Chiasson. He was a member of Sacred Heart
Parish, Sydney and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, branch 12, Sydney.
He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving overseas with the North
Nova Scotia Highlanders. He had been an employee of Sydney Steel
Corporation for a number of years. Surviving are sisters, Sister Catherine
Chiasson, Moncton; Mrs. Helen MacIntyre, Sydney; brothers, Joseph,
Alphonse, Sydney; Thomas Charles, Fredericton; numerous nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary Ann, Albine; brother, Moses.
Visitation 7-9 p.m. tonight, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in T.W. Curry

daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (MacKinnon) Roach. She was a member
of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church and LeCircle Evangeline Ladies'
Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Melvin, New Waterford; Simon, Sydney
Mines; three daughters, Leona (Mrs. Charles MacAulay), Eastern Passage;
Wilfredine (Mrs. Matthew Hawley), Mary Ann (Mrs. Glen MacKenzie), both of
New Waterford; five brothers, Peter, Leo, both of New Waterford; Joseph,
Marcellin, both of Cheticamp; Alphonse, Petit de Grat; two sisters, Sarah
(Mrs. Joseph Deveaux), Petit de Grat; Sabine LeBlanc, Cheticamp. She was
predeceasd by her husband, Leo P. (Lem); two brothers, John, Hubert; four

by trade and a volunteer fireman. He is survived by four daughters,

O'Connor), both of Inverness; Gloria (Mrs. Donnie MacDonald), Margaree Forks;

Etang and returned to the Sydney area to work as a carpenter for various
firms including Stephen's Ltd., Chappell's Ltd., and Chris Quaade Ltd. He
was also a former member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, local
1588. Surviving are daughter, Anne Marie (Mrs. Ben Singler), with whom he
resided; sisters, Mrs. Helen MacIntyre, Sydney; Sister Catherine Chiasson,
Order of the Daughters of Jesus, Moncton, N.B.; brothers, Thomas,
Fredericton, N.B.; Alphonse, Sydney; three grandchildren; two

CHIASSON, Walter Ervin (Gubba) - McKays Corner, Cape Breton County, died
November 12, 1993, in Glace Bay General Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, he
was a son of the late William L. and Margaret (Ling) Chiasson. He retired
from the coal mines after 47 years of service working in No. 10 Colliery,
Reserve Mines and No. 13 and 26 collieries in Glace Bay. In the summer of
1938, the Dominion Coal Company appointed him to go to the Toronto
Exhibition to speak on long wall mining in Cape Breton. He was a member of Holy
Family Parish, McKays Corner and an avid fisherman and hunter. In the
early 1950s, when Little League Baseball in the United States expanded to
Canada, he was a driving force behind the start of the Little League Baseball
Team in McKays Corner and was a strong supporter of all hockey played in
Glace Bay. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Ann Dono- van; four
daughters, Theresa (Mrs. Bernard Lynk), Shirley (Mrs. Donald Coffin), both of
Glace Bay; Georgina (Mrs. James Merrill), Dominion; Colleen Rosnok,
Sydney; three sons, Walter Ervin (Sonny), William Francis (Frank), both of
Glace Bay; Thomas Donovan (Tom), Halifax; three sisters, Maude (Mrs.
Kenneth Aucoin), Evelyn (Mrs. Lou Strong), both of Glace Bay; Margaret
