He is survived by his wife, the former Rose Anna Chiasson; daughter, Evelyn (Mrs. Donald Moore), Pleasant Bay, Inverness County; two brothers, Simon, Cheticamp; Dorice, Kingston, Ont.; three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Gerald; four sisters, Catherine, Clara, Rose, Marie; three brothers, Willie, Vincent, Helaire. The body has been cremated. BOURGEOIS, Ernest Leo - 74, Lower Maccan, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 1998, in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Minto, N.B., he was a son of the late Thomas and Ella (Hicks) Bourgeois. He was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, River Hebert and River Herbert Senior Citizens' Club. In his earlier years he worked in the coalmines for four years. Later he owned and operated his own farm and for 32 years he worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Highways. He is survived by his wife, the former Eva Lewis; son, Dara (wife Darlean), Lower Maccan; sisters, Geraldine (husband James O'Brien), River Hebert; Irene Harrison, Lower Maccan; Velma (husband William Burns), Springhill Junction; Helen Ruff, Georgia; brothers, Charles, Atol; three grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Vera Cassidy and Nettie Borts. His remains are resting at Furlong's Funeral Home in Amherst from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today. BOURGEOIS, Frank Norman - 67, Halifax, died August 9, 1994, at home. Born in Minto, N.B., he was a son of Mary (Kohout) Bourgeois, Halifax and the late Frank A. Bourgeois Sr. He was an MT&T pioneer, retiring in 1984 after 34 years of service. He was active in St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Parish, where he held many ministries. He was a volunteer with the Canadian Diabetes Association at the Halifax Infirmary; an avid bowler and member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 153. He is survived by four sons, Glenn, Paul, both of Prospect; Stephen, Timberlea; Frank, Vancouver, B.C.; brother, John, Campbellford, Ont.; four grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mary Florence Christian. Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today and Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, Bayers Road. BOURGEOIS, Harry William - 87, Gables Lodge, Amherst, passed away Wednesday, December 4, 1996, in the lodge. Born at Lower Cove, he was a son of the late Edward and Mary (White) Bourgeois. He had worked in the coal mines for most of his life. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church, Joggins; New Horizon Senior Citizens Club and was active in the bowling league. He was a talented woodcarver, having several of his carvings all over the globe. Surviving are daughter, Theresa (Mrs. John Smith), River Hebert; sons, Earl, Edward, Victor, Lower Cove; sister, Ada Trask, Amherst; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-greatgranddaughter. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Beatrice Cormier; sisters, Clara, Mable, Beatrice, Kate, Laura, Phoebe; brother, Fred; great-grandson, Gregory. BOURGEOIS, Henry C. - 73, Louisdale, formerly of Cheticamp, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2006, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born in Cheticamp on January 3, 1933, he was a son of the late Willie C. and Marie Louise (Roach) Bourgeois. He was a member of St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp. Henry worked in maintenance at the VG Site, QEII, and Dartmouth General Hospitals before moving back to Cheticamp. He then worked for Parks Canada until retirement in 1991 at age 58. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, repairing appliances and most of all landscaping. Henry was a man who touched the hearts of whoever he met and will be missed by his family and the many friends he made throughout his life. He is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Clothilde Bourgeois; son, Brian Patrick, The Pas, Man.; brothers, Pierre, Joseph Cyril, Claudie, Cheticamp; Willie Joe, Spryfield; sisters, Sophe Anne, Elizabeth, both of Cheticamp; Marie Jeanne, Grandby, Que. He was predeceased by son, Richard; sisters, Alice, Marie Thrse. Cremation has taken place. Memorial mass will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. in St. Peter's Church, Cheticamp, Father J.J. BOURGEOIS, Jerome Philip - 75, Cartier St., Sydney, died September 20, 1999, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Cheticamp, he was a son of the late Calixte and Annie (Aucoin) Bourgeois. As a teenager, he worked initially with his father on cargo ships ferrying goods between Halifax and Cheticamp. During the Second World War, he served in the Merchant Marine. Following his war service, he worked as a stationary engineer at the Point Edward Naval Base. He returned to the sea and served on the HMCS Chebucto as Marine Engineer for 22 years from the day she was launched until his retirement in 1986. He enjoyed spending time with his family as well as being active with many volunteer organizations. He was an active member of Branch 12, Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus, and was involved for many years with the Mass for Shut-Ins and active with several groups in St. Theresa's Church. Surviving are his wife, Lucy (Roach); sons, Greg, Vancouver, B.C.; John, Sydney; Joseph, Halifax; brothers, Oscar, Ernest, Cheticamp; Dr. Didace, Quebec; two grandchildren. No visitation by request, cremation has taken place. Ashes will be scattered at sea at a later date. Funeral 11 a.m. today in St. Theresa's Church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BOURGEOIS, Marion Elizabeth - 64, Cheticamp formerly Guysborough, died November 1, 1999, in the VG Site, QEII. Born in Roachvale, Guysborough Co., she was a daughter of the late Joseph M. and Laurella (Hendsbee) Gosbee and step-mother, Lillis Gosbee (Borgal). Throughout her life, she was untiringly dedicated to the care and success of her family. Beloved mother and grandmother, devoted friend. She was employed as a teacher at the Sunnyville school in Guysborough; employed at St. Martha's Hospital, Antigonish in the housekeeping department, at Milfred Haven Guest Home in Guysborough in the dietary department. BOURGEOIS, Mildred D. "Toots" - 78, Pictou, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen Regional Hospital, New Glasgow, on July 4, 2006. She was the adopted daughter of the late William and Mary Connell. Known for her friendliness and outgoing personality, Mildred spent many hours volunteering, especially with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Winnifred Grant Opportunity Shop and the Pictou West Food Bank. She had also been a past member of the C.W.L. and C.N.I.B. Advisory Board. She had been a member of the Northumberland Rug Hookers Association and the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by the Pictou Regional Dependency Centre for 15 years. "Toots" loved spending time with friends and family at the beach, and her favourite activities since retirement had included summers at the campground and her most recent passion - rug hooking. She is survived by daughter, Kathy Cyr, Halifax; sons, Kevin, David (Cathy) and Michael Bourgeois, all of Pictou; grandchildren, Samantha Cyr, Halifax; Jonathan Cyr, Pictou; Heather and Kyle Bourgeois, Pictou; Biancia Bourgeois, Pictou; sisters, Barb Noel, Pictou; Betty Rae, Pictou; and brother, Robert Mitchell, Fredericton.
