C. A. LUNING
C. A. Luning, who is in charge of the office of county surveyor and makes his home in Red Bluff, was born in Tehama county, November 21, 1885, a son of William F. and Fannie (Baxter) Luning, of whom mention is made elsewhere in this work. His youthful days were spent under the parental roof and the public school system of Red Bluff accorded him his educational opportunities. At the end of his third year in high school he laid aside his text-books and entered the employ of his father, who was at that time county surveyor. C. A. Luning has continued in the office without interruption since that time, save for one year, which was spent in the office of the county clerk. His record is a most commendable one and his ability and fidelity are widely recognized.
Mr. Luning was united in marriage to Miss Lillian L. Facht, a daughter of Michael and Susan Facht. Her father followed the stock business, specializing in the handling of sheep for a time, and he is now deceased. He is survived by the mother, who lives with her daughter in Red Bluff. Mr. and Mrs. Luning have one child, Farryll Deane, aged sixteen years, who is attending high school. Fraternally Mr. Luning is an Elk with membership in Red Bluff Lodge, No. 1250. Since age conferred upon him the right of franchise he has voted with the democratic party and he is a loyal adherent of any cause which he espouses. He finds recreation in hunting but his official duties are his first consideration and are discharged with thoroughness and capability.
