FRANK X. WALKER

Frank X. Walker, who, after many years of active and successful effort as a rancher, is now practically retired, is one of the most highly esteemed citizens of the Clarksville district of El Dorado County. He was born in Switzerland, on the 3rd of March, 1860, and was reared and educated there. In 1880, when about twenty years of age, he immigrated to the United States and stopped first in St. Louis, Missouri. A year later he came on to the coast and located in Sacramento, where he spent eight months. He then entered the employ of Anton Russi, on whose ranch near Clarksville he worked until the death of his employer, seven years later. Subsequently he married Mrs. Russi and took over the active management of the ranch, the operations of which he directed until advancing years admonished to take things easier, and he is now practically retired, his son Charles T. taking over the management of the property, which consists of two thousand eight hundred acres in the home place and three thousand five hundred acres at Lake Tahoe. He formerly owned a large dairy herd, but for some years prior to retiring had confined his attention mainly to raising cattle and sheep, in which business he has been very successful.

To Mr. and Mrs. Walker have been born three children: Charles Thomas, Eugene and Agnes. The mother of these children passed away on January 14, 1926. There are seven grandchildren. Mr. Walker gives his support to the Republican Party and is a member of the Knights of Pythias at Folsom. A man of strict integrity in word and action, he commands the confidence of his flowers and throughout this community is held in very high regard.
