El Dorado County
LOREN D. FORNI
††††††††††† The meat market which is being so successfully conducted by Loren D. Forni, at Placerville, California, is one of the pioneer business enterprises of the northern portion of the state, having been established over a half century ago by Mr. Forniís father. †Loren D. Forni is descended from one of the oldest family of this section.† He was born at Placerville, April 30, 1907, a son of A. F. and Nettie (Eskew) Forni.† A. F. Forni was born at Gold Hill, El Dorado county, a son of one of the earliest settlers of the county.† He was always in the cattle and butchering business, and established the store which is now conducted by his son.† He died September 14, 1927, at which time he had been actively engaged in his business for over a half century.† His wife, who survives him, is a native daughter, her mother having crossed the plains in a very early day.†
††††††††††† Loren D. Forni attended the local grade and high schools of Placerville, then entered the employ of his father in the meat market.† His father had also acquired four large ranches at the time of his death, and was running cattle on all of them.† At the time of the division of his estate, Loren D. Forni took over the management of the meat market, and has conducted it since in a most skillful manner, his reliability and progressiveness bringing him many customers.† Six people are employed in the shop, and the equipment is the most modern in every respect, including the latest modes of refrigeration.† None but the choicest grades of meats are carried, as Mr. Forni caters to the most discriminating class of buyers.† He is rated as an independent in political matters, and his favorite diversions are hunting and fishing.
††††††††††† Mr. Forni married Miss Mary Chalstran, of Illinois, and they have a son, Dennis.
