It is possible that Corrine Nesbitt
Northington (facing picture, third child from the left,
middle row) is the granddaughter of a former slave.
Samuel Edward Northington, and his two sons moved from
near Raven Rock North Carolina to Montgomery County,
Tennessee sometime around 1783. He took some slaves with
him, and when emancipation took effect, the Northington
slaves took the Northington name. |

... BIBLE
... BLIVEN, DIXON, LITTICK, SPONABLE, TODD /
1822 - 1894 / Illinois, Kansas, Rhode Island, Virginia
I purchased a Dixon Family BIBLE on ebay and made it my
goal to find the family of this lovely old Bible. It
lists an Israel Dixon and Rosetta Bliven married Jan 28,
1846 and Fillmore Dixon and Clara Littick married on Jan
1 18?9. Also it lists Israel Dixon born August 8, 1822
and Rosetta Dixon born Sept 17, 1826, Marion Albert Dixon
born Jan 10, 1848, Hiram Fillmore Dixon born March 5,
1851, Rose Ella Dixon born April 22, 1860, Jennie Sophia
Dixon born Jan 30, 1863, Nellie Blythe Dixon born Dec 4,
1865, Died Sept 7, 1881, Edgar Welcome Dixon born April
27, 1870. Rose E. Dixon and James W. Sponable married
April 22, 1884(5). Jennie S Dixon and S. L. Hubbard
married Oct 10, 1894. More Hubbard births and several
copies of the obituary of Israel Dixon. Also include with
the bible was a calling card of E. Welcome Dixon, funeral
notice of Lucinda Wheelock Todd and two pictures. One of
the pictures I believe to be of Israel Dixon. ( I checked
online and found that Lucinda Wheelock Todd was married
first to Nathan Rogers Bliven born 19 Apr 1797
Charlestown, Washington Co., R.I.)
The obit says that Israel was born in Alexandra VA and
lived in Ohio, Quincy IL, and Kansas. It does not list
his parents, but I was wondering if
Fillmore Dixon could have been his father.
All that I am asking for this Bible is the amount that I
paid for it, $39.00 and shipping cost. It is a great
piece of family history and I wish that it
connected to my own family for I would then keep it.
Please let me know if it is connected to your family.

RESPONSE ... 12/31/07 I am trying to contact Connie that posted a note on
the lost and found that she had found a bible with a letter in a thrift shop
in KC. I am the great-great-grandson of David Michael Shuyler. We have

be much appreciated.
