Richard Francis Ruddy , 67, of Hunlock Creek, died Wednesday at Hospice Care of the Visiting Nurses Association Inpatient Unit at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born on June 5, 1935 in Trenton, N.J., he was a son of Wilkes-Barre natives, the late Aloysius Francis and Dorothy (Ell) Ruddy . He earned his bachelors degree in education from Kean College, Union, N.J. He was a special education and industrial education instructor in Metuchen, N.J. and at Bradford County Vo-Tech school in Pennsylvania. Prior to retirement, he was a salesman in the modular housing industry for several years. He served with the U.S. Army for two years.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lora Lynn; and brother, Francis A.
Surviving are, his wife, the former Patricia Hageman; daughters, Stacey Elizabeth Pellegrino, Hanover Township, Kristin Lynn Shultz, Laporte, and Meaghan Patricia Godwin, Hanover Township; five grandchildren; sister, Patricia Ruddy Husko, Bricktown, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 S. Washington St., Wilkes-Barre, with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Mary's Church of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 63 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701.
