
Death Claims Thos Anderson
Well Known Early Pioneer of Steele County Died in Aurora Saturday; Was in Failing Health for Several Years; The Funeral Was Held Tuesday Morning -- Interment Made in Havana Township
Thomas Anderson, one of the early pioneers of Aurora township and prominent well-to-do farmers of Steele county, died at his home in Aurora township last Saturday. Cancer of the stomach was the cause of his death. He had been in failing health for several years. In the hope of obtaining relief he submitted to an operation in the hospital in Rochester and was under the care of specialists. The funeral took place from the home Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock and afterward from the Norwegian Lutheran church in Havana township, Rev. R.P. Vasbotten officiating. The interment was made in the church cemetery. Thomas Anderson was born at Lerdahl, Norway, October 10, 1851. In 1872 when a young man he came to America and settled in Steele county, taking a homestead in Aurora in 1878. He was married to Miss Rose Erickson July 16, 1878 in Owatonna, to whom were born thirteen children, two of whom have died. Mr. Anderson was a public spirited citizen, a good upright man, a true husband, kind father and an excellent neighbor. He served the Deerfield Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. of Steele county. He is survived by a sorrowing wife and sone, Amos, who is in northern Minnesota; John of Detroit, Becker county, Minn.; Ole, of Roula, Saskatchewan, Canada; Theodore, of Minneapolis; Alfred, Marcus, Joseph, Carl and Walter who are at home and daughters, Raula and Molly at home.

Widow of Late Thos. Anderson Died on Thursday; Funeral Services to Be Held on Saturday Afternoon
Mrs. [Ragnild] Anderson, age 66 years, long time resident of Aurora township, died at her home in Aurora township last Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Death was the result of a complication of troubles arising from ill health. She had been ill during the last 6 months.
Mrs. Anderson was the widow of the late Thomas Anderson, whose death occurred some 12 years ago. She was a member of the Aurora Norwegian Lutheran Church. She is survived by 11 children. 9 are boys and 2 girls.
Funeral services will take place at the home in Aurora township this coming Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock and then at the Aurora Norwegian Lutheran church. Rev. Nervig of New Richland will conduct the services.
