1876 arriving in Brisbane on 6 November 1876. He put his age as 25 on the shipping register, but he was only 20. He
was a steerage passenger. He came across with his cousin, (his mother's side)
Mary Hannah Watkin, whom he married on 15 February 1877. They had six children before she died in 1913. He then
married Evelyn Corkling. CWT owned his own drapery store in South
Brisbane. He also owned several houses in Brisbane
which he rented out and he owned 5 houses with fabulous
views on Burleigh Heads which is part of the very famous "Gold Coast strip"
in Queensland. In WWII When the Japanese bombed Darwin in north Australia, he
panicked and sold each of the houses for almost nothing believing that
it would be better to have cash if the Japanese took over.
