What we know about this branch of the family
Nathan arrived with his wife and two children in 1912. The family lived in Belaya Tserkov (White Church) which was a suburb of Kiev in the Ukraine. He was the son of Sura Markowitz and Jacob Nowik. We have no information on any siblings or if any of his relatives ever came to the U.S. He worked as a blacksmith and was buried by the Hebrew Free Buriel Association in a Staten Island cemetery. We believe the stone was erected by the Markman family.
