| 2/9/2007 | We continue our work on "Ons Meetjesland",
the electronic re-edition of this magazine. I'm so sorry for those of you
who don't speak Dutch. It would take me an extra lifetime to translate
all this. Here is
the homepage of "Ons Meetjesland". Right now if I wanted to start another translation into English it would be "Le Pantalon" by Alain Scoff. This is the true story of a perfectly courageous French soldier Lucien Bersot, in the trenches WW I near Soissons who refuses a torn dirty pair of trousers, with mud and blood all over it. And for this act of disobedience he is eventually executed on orders of a colonel, for whom the battlefield is a map on a wall in a comfortable chateau well out of harm's way and whose only weapons are little flags to be pinned on that map with a cigar in his face and a glass of cognac in his hand. The colonel is promoted after the war. Many years later Bersot is fully rehabilitated and the injustice of his death is recognized except that the colonel who was responsible for it is not sanctioned. |

Cauwels family from Maldegem.
No relationship has yet been found with the Noë

It's here for want of a better place and to make it available to those
who were (and will be) very happy to find it and/or to add their
contributions. And here is the same
