Mrs. Henrietta CARSON SMITH TOWARD, 62, died at 3:30 a. m. Wednesday, March 4, 1931, in her home, 421 East Lincoln avenue, McDonald, following a long illness. She had been ailing since last November. Her husband John TOWARD died October 11, 1909, of injuries sustained in the Brier Hill mine September 2, 1909. Mrs. TOWARD was born January 29, 1869 in Armoy, County Antrim, Ireland, and was brought to the United States in 1870 by her parents, Mrs. And Mrs. Henry SMITH, both deceased. They settled in McDonald and this has been the family home since. Mrs. TOWARD is survived by nine children as follows: George, Henry, and Robert TOWARD, and Bessie, the five of George CEREZO, all of McDonald; Blanch the wife of Amie LEROY of Ellwood City, and Thomas, Violet, John, and Samuel at home. Three children died in infancy and a son William died in 1923. There are eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters also survive; Agnes the wife of Duncan Johnston, Thomas, William C. and Henry K. smith, Jane the wife of John MCGREEVY, and Samuel C. SMITH, all of McDonald. The deceased was a member of the Presbyterian church of McDonald and held membership in the Ladies Loyal Orange Lodge Purple Star 167, Pittsburgh, Ascalon Sisterhood Dames of Malta No. 134, and Rebekah Lodge of McDonald. Funeral services, in charge of her pastor, the Rev. B. F. HEANY, will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon in the TOWARD home in East Lincoln avenue. Friends are invited to attend.
