Death Claims Aged McDonald Business Man John C. PHILLIPS, 83, died at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 1947, in his home in North street, McDonald. Born May 14, 1864, in Wales, Mr. PHILLIPS had resided in McDonald the past 60 years. He had been a prominent businessman in McDonald until several years ago, when he retired due to ill health. He had operated a bakery and confectionery and in later years a restaurant. He was a member of the First U. P. church, McDonald. He and Mrs. Phillips had been married 59 years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Amanda PHILLIPS; three daughters, Miss Isabelle PHILLIPS of Crafton, Mrs. Stella CAMPBELL of Dunbar, W. Va., and Mrs. Audrey FURMAN of Russell's Point, Ohio: one son Nesbit PHILLIPS of Burgettstown; one sister, Mrs. Elizabeth FRESHWATER of New Kensington, and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 o'clock this Friday afternoon in the Rogers funeral home, McDonald, in charge of the Rev. C. F. TAME, pastor of the McDonald Methodist church.
