We received a letter last Friday afternoon, too late for publication in last week's paper, telling of the death of Joseph MIMM, Jr. of Maywood, California, formerly a resident of Sharpsburg & Etna. Mr. MIMM passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 1934 at 4 p.m. at his home, 6040 Heliotrope Ave. He was born in Etna and was in his 76th year.
Mr. MIMM worked at Spang, Chalfant Company Mills, Etna, starting at the age of twelve and was in their services for fifty-two years. He left the community for California in 1920. At St. Mary's Lyceum fiftieth anniversary, Mr. MIMM was made an honorary member of the Lyceum. Mr. MIMM had been ailing for the past year.
He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. J. Frank GILL of Crafton, Pa. and Mrs. H.G. YOUNG of Maywood, California; three sons, Joseph, Jr. of Los Angeles, Stewart S. & Lindsay A. MIMM of Bell, California; three sisters, Mrs. Henry FERLA and Miss Maggie MIMM, Sharpsburg; Mrs. LANG of Millvale, and two brothers, John MIMM and Henry MIMM of Sharpsburg. High mass of requiem was sung on Friday, March 9th at St. Rose of Lima Church at Maywood, Fr. Ryan officiating. Burial took place at Calvary Cemetery, Los Angeles.
