MCADAMS - On Friday, November 24, 1939 at 4:30 a.m., Robert McAdams, father of Mrs. Edith McAdams Cristler, Albert P., and A. Lincoln McAdams. Friends received at H. Samson's, 537 Neville St., where services will be held Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock.
NOTES: Robert McAdams was born on October 15, 1847 to Robert and Mary Ann McAdams. Robert was married to Sarah Wright, daughter of William Wright and Nancy Nelson. Robert's brother, William was married to Sarah's sister Annie. On August 1, 1861 Robert, his father, Robert Sr., and his brother James all enlisted in "D" Co. PA 63rd Infantry. Robert McAdams, Jr. Residence not listed; Enlisted on 8/1/61 as a Private. On 8/1/61 he mustered into "D" Co. PA 63rd Infantry He was Mustered Out on 8/1/64 Sources: - History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-5 Robert's brother James was wounded 8/29/62 at 2nd Bull Run and died of his wounds 12/31/62 This family is also of interest because of the number of physicians in this family. At least two of Robert's sons, William and Robert III were physicians. Robert's nephew, Edward Calvin McAdams was a physician. In addition, son-in-law John W. Cristler lists his occupation as physician on his December 1894 Marriage License to Edith McAdams. Robert Sr., Robert Jr., William, James, Annie, Sarah, and Nancy Nelson Wright are all buried in Section N of Union Dale Cemetery. Dr. William McAdams is buried in Homewood Cemetery.
