Jabez Grooms, Sr, aged 66 years, six months, and nine days, one of the best known residents of the Monongehela Valley, died yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his home in Dravosburg, from a complication of diseases from which he had been suffering for the past year. His condition had been serious since Saturday. Mr. Grooms was born in England, but came to this country 46 years ago, locating near Dravosburg, where he has lived ever since. He is survived by his widow Mrs. Hannah Grooms; two sons, John and Jabez, Jr., of Dravosburg; five daughters, Mrs Dessie J. Quinn, of Pittsburgh; Mrs W. P. Davis, of Hays Station; Mrs. A. W. Swainson, of this city and the Misses Sarah E. and M. Priscilla, at home, and by 13 grandchildren. The funeral will be held from his late residence on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with internment in Richland Cemetery. Carriages will leave Volk's undertaking rooms for the home at 12:30 o'clock.
