O'Hara Township, PA -- Old School
Photos (circa: 1900-1929)
These three photos (below) had
belonged to Miss Elma Hodil, a teacher at the old Kerr School who began
her career in teaching at the Robinson School in O’Hara Township.
She had a small envelope in her Aspinwall, PA apartment with these and
several other photos of the school.

The photo of the school is enhanced
with Photoshop.
You can just see the tombstones of the
Pine Creek Church Cemetery in back of the building.
It sat across from the present day
Squaw Run Road entrance of Dorseyville Road.
The photo (below) of the class
members unfortunately does not have any
identification on the back, but appears to be taken around 1900.
I
just thought that it was interesting for the style of clothes
alone.
My paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Henrich, was born in 1891 and lived
on Squaw Run Road at the time. She may have even been one of
these
students. I am thinking that the 3rd student from the right on
the
bottom may be her, but I have no proof.
This
photo of the 5th, 6th,
7th and 8th grade class at Robinson School
was taken for the school year of 1928 and 1929.
The teacher standing at
the left is Alma Lorch Fiscus.
From
left to right in the rows are:
Row 1 kneeling – Tony Petro, Jack Kotchey,
Earl Langusky, Robert Yerkins.
Row 2 – William Petro, Frederich
Meister, Peter Kozloski, Mary Fugh, Acretta Kotchey, Roland Campbell
Row 3 – Harry Longersky, Frank
Kramer, Louisa Meister, Kathryn Yakovitz and Stella Krause
I am not totally sure of the spellings, as
the writing is cramped and done quickly.
