In August of 1851 the church took the following action: "Motion and second to take the vote of the church whether She fellowship Brother J. O. Roberts in remaining with the free Masons & the church agree to exclude him from the fellowship of the church he being present & agreeing to the act of the church in so doing." In July of 1852 the church was asked to reconsider their action by W. Grimes and J. W. Montague. In October of 1852 he was again asked to quit the "secret lodges of the free masons and partaking with them in their public Exhibitions." He again refused to comply and the church declared a nonfellowship and excluded him from the church. Parents: Unknown ROBERTS and Mary MOORE.
