What begun in the interest of his patients, soon grew into a full scale business affair and Ester Caroline Willms Webb, proved to be an equal business partner as well as equal partner for life. The game began and many spellers began to sit down, former school marms, college and school graduates until only MRS. O.E. Her Father, a well to do banker with business interests in many areas, commanded community respect from everyone, and Ester was accustom to respect by associatioin with her father and husband, both very capable men, when indeed in another era, a women of Ester's abilities would have commanded respect for her own intelect and accomplishments. aaAll her life she was a great defender of anything that protected family and homelife.

The earliest record I have of a Willms is a ancestor for Heinrich Christolph Willms (1916-1906) from landesarchives at Detmold, Germany showing a Johann Christolph Willms in Brake, Lippe, Germany born around 1750, but the same chart shows the wife of Heinrich (Caroline Sagel) back to 1692. Caroline's father's surname was SPRANGER, but he married widown SAGEL and assumed the last name of her farm which was a practice in those days. However I read a book that the Willmls family may have migrated from Ostfriesdand in late 1600's, but I can't make a connection.

Heinrich and two brothers (Anton & Frederick) migrated to the United States arriving in the port of New Orleans May 15, 1847 on the ship Hardee from Bremen (LDS microfillm #0200156) They traveled up the Mississippi river and settled near Herman in Gasconade County,M issouri. 1850 census of Boulware Township, Gasconade County, Missouri, page 163B & 164A shows Henry Williams in Dwelling 65 and family 65. YES, WILLIAMS, aslo Anthony WILMS in dwelling 76. The 1860 census shows August WILLMS. They may have crossed out the ia and left it WILLMS not Wilms.

A son (John) of one of the other brothers married Mary HELD about 1890 and purchased land from her parents that became the WILMS HUNT CLUB which is nin existence today. Some HELD descendants operate the Stone Hill Winery today.

Heinrich Christolph and family moved to Madison County, Illinois about 1861 they are shown on the 1870 Madison county census, page 500A, dwelling #6. Charles Wilms age 21 born in Missouri. The KEISERS are shown in the same census on page 251, dwelling 146. Heinrich C. and Minnie were married 1872.
