October 4,1909---Reverend John Chenault was in town today. He states that he is now closing up the 17 years of work in the Clarksville District and the 4th year on the Antioch Circuit. He expects, of course, to be upon another work, but reluctantly leaves his present field.

June 5,1857---About $1,000 has been raised by subscription to repair and decorate the Presbyterian Church in this city; and, while the work is being done, that congergation we learn has been invited to occupy alternately with the Methodist Episcopal, their church, which they will do - Reverend Mr. J.T. Hendrick preaching one Sunday, and Reverend Mr. A. Mizell the next.

May 20,1859---The people on the South-side of the River, are about commencing the building of a new Church at Antioch. This is one of the oldest places of worship in the State, having had regular Camp-meetings at this Church for some forty or fifty years. We are glad to see that the spirit of improvement has at last got hold of the people in that vicinity. And just here we would suggest, that whilst they are improving, that more and better camps are needed, and they should build them at once.

August 5,1909---An interesting meeting is in progress this week at Salem Church, five miles south of the city. The Pastor, Reverend J.M. Oakley, is doing the preaching very acceptable to the large congregations that hear him from day to day.

215 THE REVIVAL
October 29,1858---The revival of religion at the Cumberland Church, in this place, is still in progress, under the charge of the Reverend S.P. Chesnut. We learn that there have been some 27 or 28 conversions, and there is still quite a warm feeling in the congregation. This meeting has already been protracted some three weeks, and the present prospect is that it will continue for some time yet.

December 3,1844---We are requested to say that the new Catholic Church, of this town, will be dedicated to the service of Almighty God, on Sunday the 8th of December, being second Sunday in Advent at half past ten.
The Rt. Rev. Dr. Miles, Bishop of Nashville will perform the ceremony, assisted by the Rev. Messrs. John McGuire and J. Schacht.
The Bishop, or one of Rev. gentlemen, will preach in the morning at half past ten, and in the evening at 4, on Sunday th e8th, Monday and Tuesday following.
The citizens of Clarksville are all respectably invited to attend.
There will be divine service in the same Church on Christmas day, 25th December; and on 1st Sunday in every Month, at half past ten in the morning, and 4 o’clock in the evening.

217 TEMPERANCE
February 13,1844---Mr. William B. Munford made a sensible and well connected argument in favor of the Temperance cause, on Saturday evening---and we were glad to see a goodly number out to hear him. Several additional names were obtained.
The next meeting of the society takes place on next Saturday week, 24th, at the Presbyterian Church.

And a Committee of five members were appointed to make arrangements for said celebration.
The Recording Secretary’s Journal is now at this Office, where persons who wish, may at any time enroll their names.

July 14,1865--The Presbyterian church, in this city, which has been closed since last summer, is opened once more for Divine Services. The Reverend Dr. T. Delacey Wardlow who has recently taken out his degree in Medicine, has returned and recommenced his labors in the church.
