March 11,1876---At the Methodist Church at Palmyra, on the 9th inst. by Reverend R.K. Brown, Mr. Robert S. Davis and Miss Gertrude Ramey, both of this city.
By special invitation, we attended the happy marriage. This was the bride's old home and she preferred having the ceremony performed in the presence of her old friends and relatives. Quite a number were present to witness the impressive ceremony and extended to them their congratulations after which the invited guests repaired to the residence of Mr. William P. Laird and partook of a very sumptuous repast.
May their voyage through life be happy, fanned by the gentle breeze of love, with no ripple upon the waters to mar the pleasures of two loving hearts united as one.

Miss Nora Gilpin and Mr. George Bagwell were married Tuesday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Gilpin of Antioch on the Edmondson Ferry Road, Rev. J.C. Oakley officiating.
The house was beautifully decorated with ferns, vines and evergreens. The bride and groom and attendants filed into the spacious parlor to the strings of the Wedding March played by Miss Mabel Orgain of Lone Oak.
The bride was beautifully attired in an embroidered net over cream satin gown while the groom was dressed in the conventional black.
The bride's going-away gown was of blue velvet with a hat to match. They were the recipients of many beautiful and useful presents.
The groom is a progressive farmer, a cattleman of near Murfreesboro and the bride is a daughter of Mr. G.W. Gilpin, a prosperous merchant well-known in this city.
The young couple will make their home near Murfreesboro.

It was a quiet affair, there being only a few friends present to witness the happy event. Mr. Merritt and bride left on the evening train to visit the eastern cities. The groom is the talented pastor of the church in which his marriage vow was plighted. He is one of the rising young ministers of the Baptist faith. His life companion is highly esteemed by those who know her best and appreciate the womanly graces that adorn her life.

December 24,1890--A notable wedding will be solemnized at Salem Church, on the south side, tomorrow at 2:00, when the Reverend J.J. Comer will unite in marriage John R. Edmondson and Miss Julia, daughter of the Reverend Lewis Lowe, both well known and popular young people of the south side.
The attendants will be Miss Kittie Edmondson & Louis Neblett, Miss Emma Roberts & Will Richardson, Miss Mary Richardson & R.B. Edmondson, Miss Mattie Neblett & Louis Edmondson, Miss Nannie Wyatt & Norman Neblett.
The Salem Church will be beautifully decorated for the occasion, and after the ceremony the happy couple and their friends will repair to the residence of the groom’s father, John R. Edmondson, Sr., where an elegant reception will be tendered them.
There is no worthier young man in Montgomery County than Johnnie Edmondson, and one for whom the Leaf would wish more happiness. The bride was spending the day at Mrs. Small’s and gave no one in the house an intimation that she was or expected to be married then until Brother Sullivan appeared to tie the knot. There was no objection on the part of any of the household and the good work was soon accomplished.

The event culminates a courtship of extending through a period of 25 years, and links the lives and fortunes of a most deserving couple. Mr. Jackson has been fortunate in securing a wife by nature and experience well fitted for the sphere to which she has been called. They will live at the Haskins home place, on Franklin Street.

November 5,1889--The wedding of Paul J. Wyatt and Miss Mary C. Wyatt last Sunday afternoon was rather an unexpected event. The time had originally been fixed for a later date, but the business affairs of Mr.. Wyatt made an earlier union desirable. The ceremony took place at the home of the bride, on the south side. Reverend R.E. Travis officiating. Upon its conclusion Mr. Wyatt departed for Richmond, Kentucky, where he will accept a place on the engineering corps of the Chesapeake & Ohio Rail Road. When comfortably domiciled in his new quarters his pretty bride will join him. The LEAF feels especially interested in the future of Mr. Wyatt, who formerly was one of the most valued compositors. He is a most deserving young man, possessing energy and intelligence, and luckily for him he has chosen for a wife a young lady who will prove a loving companion and helpmate for life. To them we extend best wishes for a long and happy life.

October 29,1889--The marriage of J.S. King and Miss Mattie Hysmith, daughter of Richard Hysmith, took place at Little Hope church Thursday, October 24 at 5:00. The ceremony was preformed by Reverend W.S. Adams and witnessed by a host of friends and relatives. The ushers were Harvey Welch & Miss Mattie King, Dan King & Miss Ellen Hysmith. After the marriage they had a hearty congratulations, after which the couple left for the bride's home, where they partook of a sumptuous supper. The bridegroom and bride are well known and popular young people and have a host fo friends in this vicinity who will be gratified to learn of their happy union. They are each to be congratulated upon a wise selection of a life partner. Mr. King is a young man of fine business qualities and industrious habits, well supplied with those traits that appear prominently in a well-rounded character. His bride is an attractive woman and a favorite in the social circles in which she mingles. May the richest blessings of heaven and earth be showered on each of them and no trouble ever cross their minds.

The bridegroom is a young man of fine character and indomitable energy and a good farmer. He has chosen wisely in the fine selection of a life partner. Miss Lovell is well known from her long connection with the city schools in which she has so efficiently served. June 28,1889--The Christian Church at Oakwood in this county, was the scene of an interesting event last Wednesday evening. It was the marriage of two popular young people of that vicinity, C.L. Cooper and Miss Eula Buck, daughter of John Buck. The ceremony was said by Reverend J.M. Streator, of Florida. The attendants were W.A Chambers & Miss Eula Harris, Edwin McGregor & Miss Fronie Lyle, Clem Coleman & Miss Helen Leigh. Crit Caroland & Will Edmondson were the ushers.
After the ceremony the bridal party and a number of their friends assembled at the bride’s home, where they passed a delightful evening and partook of the good things prepared for their enjoyment by the hospitable host. Next day, at the home of the bridegroom’s father, Levi Cooper, a feast was also spread, and a happy throng gathered to take part in the festivities.
The LEAF congratulates its young friends that their vows have been thus happily consummated, and that a future of such bright promise seems awaiting them.

The Reverend E.H. Lovell, pastor of the Methodist Church at Palmyra, officiated and the ring ceremony was used. Mr. and Mrs. Powers left immediately for Miami and other points in Florida.

April 16,1889--The marriage of George M. Patch and Miss May Douglas Merriwether will take place at the Merriwether residence, on Madison street, this evening at 6:00, Dr. Sears officiating. The wedding will be a quiet one, witnessed by only a few friends, in a short time thereafter Mr. & Mrs. Patch will take their departure for Chicago. These young people have spent much of their lives in this city, where they became warmly attached to each other, and their numerous friends will be gratified that their plighted vows have been thus happily consummated. The bridegroom is the eldest son of our township, A.H. Patch and for a number of years has been a resident of Chicago, where he has a lucrative business. The Bride is the daughter of W.D. Merriwether, also one of our well known citizens. She is highly esteemed among her acquaintances as a young lady of many noble traits of character, whose removal from our midst will be sincerely regretted by those who know her best.
