3149    EDWIN CONSTANTINE JORDAN

Dr. Edwin Constantine Jordan was the son of Willie Bell Norfleet and Robert Dudley Jordan. He is preceded in death by a son, Scott Wayne Jordan
He graduated from Clarksville High School in 1942; from Western Kentucky State College (B.S.) in 1950; and from the University of Louisville (M.D.) in 1954.
On June 23, 1957, in the Chapel at Fort McPherson, Georgia, he married Gloria Maxine Head.
Dr. Jordan, an anesthesiologist, served for 27 years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps. After completing his three year residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, he served as the deputy commander of the Ft. Campbell Hospital in 1968. Other posts included Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii; Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Bethesda, Maryland; and Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center, Denver, Colorado. He served in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970 as a medical consultant to combat zone surgical units. He was awarded the Bronze Star for distinguished service there. A recipient of the Legion of Merit, Dr. Jordan retired from the military as a full colonel in 1977 and went into private practice at Memorial Hospital in Clarksville. Most recently, he worked as a consultant at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital in Springfield. Dr. Jordan was a member of New Providence Church of Christ, where he was education director for 20 years. He was also the Cub Scout Master of Clarksville Academy Pack 521 for 13 years, receiving the Long Rifle Award in 1980, the W.B. Dunlop, Jr., Award in 1983, and the Western Grizzard Award in 1990.

He served as magistrate in Clarksville for 13 years, retired as chairman of the planning commission of Clarksville after 27 years of membership, was involved in commercial land development and real estate. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean War.
