She was a founding member of the Gaited and Pleasure Horse Council of Chattanooga. Under her leadership as president and show chairman, the club established the Chattanooga Charity Horse Show, one of the southeast's leading Saddlebred events.
Mrs. Swift was a Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church in Chattanooga. She helped care for children as a volunteer in local hospitals.
Mrs. Swift was past president of La Sertoma Club as well as Brookfield Place Community Club. She was also active in the Valamont Women's and Valleybrook Community clubs
