Mrs. Swift graduated from Austin College of Texas as Valedictorian and Class President. She taught high school in Clarksville.
She was a founding member of the Gaited and Pleasure Horse Council of Chattanooga. Under her leadership as president and show chairman, the club established the Chattanooga Charity Horse Show, one of the southeast's leading Saddlebred events. Mrs. Swift was a Sunday school teacher at First Methodist Church in Chattanooga. She helped care for children as a volunteer in local hospitals.
Mrs. Swift was past president of La Sertoma Club as well as Brookfield Place Community Club. She was also active in the Valamont Women's and Valleybrook Community clubs

Patricia Ann Stowe Hoard was the daughter of Joel Stowe and Bertha Horne Stowe. She was preceded in death by a brother, Joel Stowe, Jr. and two nephews Derrick Stowe and John Hickman. She graduated from Burt High School in 1967 and Austin Peay State University in 1972. Patricia received her teaching certification in 1972 from the state of Tennessee and taught at Waverly Central High School, Humphreys County, Tennessee for 3 years. In 1981 she accepted a position with the United States Department of Treasury and retired the Internal Revenue Service in 2005.
