James Linehan DAVENPORT -- Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for James P. "Zeke" Linehan, a resident of Davenport, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, where the family invites you to join them for a prayer service to be offered at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Linehan died Sunday, Oct. 6, 2002, at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, after a courageous battle with cancer. James Patrick Linehan was born Aug. 14, 1930, in Davenport, a son of John Aloysius and Mary Carmelit (Fruin) Linehan. He married Margaret McGuire on Sept. 10, 1955, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Villa Nova. She preceded him in death Dec. 25, 1997. Jim graduated in 1948 from the former St. Ambrose Academy, Davenport. He was employed 47 years with the DRI-Lines Railroad, retiring in 1992. He served in the Iowa National Guard for six years and had been active during the Korean War era. Jim was a life member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. He had been very active in the Knights of Columbus, 532, Davenport. He was famous for his assistance with the Fish Fry and the Sunday Morning Breakfast at Knights of Columbus. Jim enjoyed baking and was especially known for his wonderful breads and other baked goods. He had been an avid gardener and also was a talented wood refinisher and antique restorer. He was an enthusiastic card player and was notoriously known for his "poker face." Memorials can be made to Sister Genevieve Fruend Scholarship Fund, in care of St. Paul the Apostle Church, or Genesis Foundation. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Beth and Todd Epping, Deland, Fla., Anne and Tom Carney, Joliet, Ill., and Peggy and Doug Collins, Davenport; sons and daughters-in-law, Pat and Lana Linehan, Davenport, Jim and Diane Linehan, Davenport, John and Kathleen Linehan, Joliet, Ill., David Linehan and Sherry, Davenport, and Tom and Shelly Linehan, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Claire and Jim Frazer, LeClaire; and a brother and sister-in-law, Martin and Marge Linehan, Davenport.
