    • Birth certificate records Tom was born at 2, Albert Road, Devonport, Plymouth.
    • He later lived at Westhill Road, Plymouth.
    • After his marriage in 1950, he lived the rest of his life at 2, Laira Park Crescent, Lipson Vale, Plymouth.
    • He attended Public Secondary School for Boys in Plymouth.
    • He later served in the Royal Navy in World War 2. He was serving on the 'Prince of Wales ' when it was sunk by Japanese torpedoes in Dec 1941. He was rescued and then evacuated from Singapore before its fall to the Japanese. He also worked on the reconstruction of the Italian dockyards after Italy's surrender.
    • 1950s- he had a fishmonger's shop in Flora St, near Union St, Plymouth
    • 1960s - tradesman (carpentry and joinery), working on various construction projects around the Plymouth area.
    • He worked for Plymouth Marine at the end of the 60s, including work on the ocean going racing trimaran 'Gancia Girl'.
    • He was commissioned by the National Trust/National Maritime Museum to work, as shipwright in charge, on the reconstruction of the Tamar barge, and The Shamrock, at Cotehele Quay,Cornwall.
    • He was still working at Cotehele at the time of his death in 1995.
