• From the 1851 census we know the family of John PERKINS lived at 69, Princess St., Devonport. They shared the address with Fras. ROWE age 44, a Chelsea Pensioner, his wife, Isabel, daughter, Rose, and Elizabeth STEPHENS age 41, a carpenter's wife with sons William and John.
• The IGI (International Genealogical Index at www.family search.org) gives a christening date for John PERKINS of 4th July 1784. This does not match his age of 64 years in the 1851 census. However this is not unusual as quite often people give wrong ages for the census.
