                    Last Will and Testament of James Averitt Sholar
 
State of Kentucky County of Trigg                         June 2nd 1875
 
I James A. Sholar being in a sound state of mind make this my will in manner
and form as follows. Viz 1st I want my debts to be collected and all my just
debts paid.
2nd I give to my wife Telitha J. Sholar all my estate both real and personal
after my just debts is paid during her life or widowhood 3rd at the death of
my wife Telitha J. Sholar I want my estate all sold and equally divided a
with my children. Elizabeth Sholar now Carr, Albert W. Sholar to each has
had a horse and saddle.
 
Bed and cow James P Sholar has had a horse and saddle. Telitha J. Sholar has
had a horse and cow. Sarah A. Sholar give her a colt. John E. Sholar has had
nothing in advance. I want John E. to have 100 dollars more than the rest of
my children for the purpose of educating him. 4th I want those that has had
the least to made equal with the others as they need such or it can be done
without inquiring the family. 5th and lastly I appoint my two sons Albert W.
Sholar and James P. Sholar my Executors to this my will day and date
aforementioned and I want the court to qualify them without requiring any
bond or security from them. If my wife Telitha Jane Sholar should spend or
make any other use of my property then my Executors have full power to sell
everything at anytime and divide the money amongst my kin. If the_____ of
the family should request I give my Executors the power to sell at anytime
two tracts of land lying on the head of the Donaldson Creek containing both
together 82 acres and known as the Joshua Sholar old place.

Of the Trigg County Court do certify that the foregoing instrument of
writing purporting to be the last will and testament of James A. Sholar
Decd. was this day produced in open Court and forum according to law by oath
of D W Futrell to do the act and deed of James A. Sholar and he also formed
the _____ of D B Sholar the other subscribing  _______ ______ and the same
was ordered to be recorded as the last will and testament of said decedent
where from the same with this certificate deaths been duly recorded in my
office given under my hand this 10th day of April 1876.

It is written in the Trigg County Handbook, page 410, that J A Sholar is
buried on the Fort Campbell Military reservation area #23. The Post Engineer
at Fort Campbell has the duty of providing perpetual care of the cemeteries.
