1. JOHN L.3 BOATWRIGHT (FRIEND2, THOMAS1) was born 05 March 1831 in Arkansas, and died 27 October 1890 in Williamson, Texas. He married REBECCA COLE 02 March 1854 in Lavaca County, TX. She was born 1838 in Iowa, and died 30 November 1903, reportedly, but not documented, in Oilton, Oklahoma.

Served in The Army of The Republic of Texas (exact date/rank unknown) and was awarded 640 acres of land in 1860 for his service of "Special Act". Recorded in Bounty & Donation Land Grants of Texas 1835-1888.

Served in the Mexican War 1846-1848, Sutton's Co, Bell's Regiment, Texas Mounted Volunteers". Pension # C20329 was paid. Information recorded in "Texas Veterans Mexican War,Muster Rolls of Texas Military Units, complied by Charles Spurlin".

Enlisted in The Army of The Confederate States of America Parker County on May 06, 1862. He served in the Rank of Private. Griffin/Commanding Officer. Served at the Battle of Sabine Pass. CSA pension was paid to his widow, Rebecca Cole Boatright.

Buried at Pond Springs Cemetery, Williamson, Texas. Cemetery is located on the south side of RM 620, approximately 0.3 miles east of US 183. It is about 5.5 miles of Round Rock Texas. Williamson County Historical Society provided the following information 11/98: "As an Eagle Scout project, a young man in Round Rock Texas did an inventory of this cemetery in 1997 and donated a copy to the Genealogy Society. It also contains pictures of existing graves. An earlier inventory was done in 1964. John Boatright is on the 1964 inventory, but his marker had disappeared by the time the 1997 inventory was done. The 1964 inventory provides this information: "John Boatright, Gone To Rest " and has the birth/death dates".
