A CRUEL MURDER

On Monday last,a man by the name of HADLEY, delibertaly and in cold blood, shot a Mr Standifer (SANDIFORD), who we believe is a citizen of this county, about seven miles south of Ft.Smith.On the same day SANDIFORD died of the wound, at that place, where he had been taken for surgical aid.We learn that there was considerable excitement in the Ft. Smith area on Thursday last, growing out of an erroneous impression among the citizens on Sugar Loaf and Petite Jean- that HADLEY would be discharged from custody.Where upon a large number, over one hundred persons came into Ft. smith to hang the murderer up,if he had been released. The same day an examination was held and HADLEY was comitted for trial at our next circuit court.
