This summer my wife Kristin and I took a vacation and spent a few days in Payson, Arizona. I had not been there in over 20 years and Kristin had never seen it except in pictures and magazines I had. She loved the mountains and the area. We took trips up to Woods Canyon Lake and other places including a day trip to Snowflake to visit with Alma & Robin Hightower. While we were there they took us on a trip around town and showed us a lamp post with a plaque
plaques Alma told us was anyone could purchase one and have it mounted on the posts. We did not read any of them but took some pictures of Aunt Betty's post and if anyone would like a copy of them let me know and I will bring some to the reunion or email them to you.
Hans Peter Sorenson
You ever thought about where the grave site of one of the first of our ancestors to come to this young country to start a new life. Hans Peter Sorenson came here at a very young age from Denmark with the help of Mormon missionaries. He arrived in New York City in the mid 1880's we think and from there emigrated west with other members of the family who sponsored him all the while waiting for the rest of his family to come to the United States from Denmark. Eventually all would make it here. Hans Peter led a very colorful life as evidenced by writings from other family members as they remembered him. Several of us have some old pictures of him from cowboy wear up
to the and Robert Taylor to the west and someone named Palmer to the East. What we are wanting to do is have a marker made and placed on the gravesite. We are asking for donations to have this marker made and placed. Judy O'Dwyer has information on the cost of this marker and is accepting donations from everyone who wishes to donate. Donations may be sent to her at: Judy O'Dwyer 1576 Yale St Mesa, Az 85204 Thank you in advance for your contribution to the fund. Jerry Linton
