William Wood's Will

In the name of God amen.  I William Wood Senr. of the County of Sampson in the state of North Carolina being in perfect sound mind and memory, and knowing that it is once appointed for all men to die, do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manner and form following (to wit) it is my will and desire that all my just debts and funeral expenses be discharged as quick as possible, out of the most perishable part of my estate by my executors hereafter mentioned.

I give and bequeath to my disobedient wife Elisabeth one dollar in cash, believing it to be full as much as she even would in justice be intitled to of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Susanna Warren and her husband Isaiah Warren one dollar in cash, to be raised out of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Happy Brown's children four dollars in cash, to be raised out of my estate, to be equally divided amongst them share and share alike.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Nancy Smith and her husband ? Smith one dollar in cash, to be raised out of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jesse Wood, and his heirs for ever, one hundred acres of land, which was deeded to me by George Draughon, laying and being in the county of Sampson aforesaid together with fifty dollars in cash to be raised out of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Winney Best's children, which she had by Thomas Best, one dollar in cash to each of them, to be raised out of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Moore Wood and his heirs for ever if any two negroe boys known by the names Stephen and Jack, together with one feather bed and furniture, the two negroes and feather bed and furniture belong to him immediatly after my death and not before.  But if the said Moore Wood should die without lawful issue begotten of his body, then the above mentioned two negroes and feather bed and furniture, to be sold and the money arising from said sale to be equally divided amonst all my children share and share alike, which said two above mentioned negroes Stephen and Jack, I have heretofore given him in a deed of gift but in case any doubt should arise respecting the same, do again absolutely divise and bequeath the same in manner as above mentioned.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Penny Ingram, and her husband John Ingram, and their heirs for ever, one negroe woman named Juda, and said Juda's increase, which she may have after my decease which said negroe woman Judah, and her increase which she may have after my decease, I have heretofore deeded to them by gift, but in case any doubt should arise respecting the same, do hereby again absolutely divise and bequeath and give the same to them as above mentioned, together with one dollar in cash to be raised out of my estate.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Wm. Wood and his heirs for ever, two negroes known by the names of Simon and Jimmy, and the increase of Jimmy, together with one feather bed, bedstead and furniture, which said two negroes and the

and their heirs forever, one negroe girl name Rhoda and her increase, together with one dollar in cash, to be raised out of my estate, which said negroe girl and here increase, I have deeded to them by gift, but in case any doubt should arise respecting the same, do hereby again absolutely divise and bequeath and give the same as foresaid.

Itim.  It is my will and desire that all the property which is not given in legacies in this will, nor lent, which I am posessed of at my death, and cash in hand and debts due me - be equally divided amongst my three sons, Jesse, William, and Jonathan, share and share alike, without being sold, and to belong to

I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Jonathan Wood and his heirs for ever, two hundred and forty acres of land, including the improvements whereon I now reside, together with one xxxxx negroe girl named Rose, and here increase, xxxxx said land and negroe and increase, I have heretofore deeded to him in fxx simple, but in case any doubt should arise respecting the same, do hereby again absolutely, divise and bequeath and give the same as aforesaid.

I give and bequeath to my well beloved daughter Phereby Ingram, and her husband Abner Ingram
