Benjamin Joseph Wood, 81-year-old retired farmer of Route 2, Benson, died Monday.
Mr. Wood was a native of Johnston County. He was a son of the late William and Ava Parker Wood.
The funeral was scheduled for 3:30 Tuesday afternoon at Juniper Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Frank Matthews, pastor, Elder Ralph Clifton, and the Rev. J. W. Smith officiating. Interment was scheduled to follow in the Wood-Morgan Cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lattie McLamb Wood; four sons, L. A. and W. D. Wood, both of Raleigh, Felton Wood of Four Oaks, and Marvin Wood of Wilmington; nine daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson of Goldsboro, Mrs. Katherine Wood, Mrs. Margine Dixon, and Mrs. Gertie Allen, all of Raleigh, Mrs. Doris Beasley of Fayetteville, Mrs. Ernestine Blackman of Coats, Mrs. Myrtie Strickland of Garner, Mrs. Gertrude Beasley of Benson, and Mrs. Lena Lee of Four Oaks; two sisters, Mrs. Effie Beasley of Benson and Mrs. Geneva Register of Dunn; 33 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
