Miss Smith, Gary Gatlin Exchange Wedding Vows

On Saturday, June 21 (1980), at two o'clock in the afternoon in Goldsboro's Trinity Baptist Church, Miss Pamela Kay Smith became the bride of Gary Paul Gatlin in a double-ring candlelight ceremony.  Officiating minister was the Rev. R. Graham Elmore.

Mrs. Susan Lassiter, friend of the bride, was the pianist.  Traditional wedding marches were used.

Mr. and Mrs. James J. Smith of Route 11, Goldsboro are parents of the bride.  The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James L. Gatlin of Route 3, Goldsboro.

Escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a floor-length gown of silesta and silk Venice lace designed with a chapel train.  The empire sleeveless bodice featured a Queen Anne neckline.  Silk Venice adorned the bodice and outlined the neckline.

Her layered fingertip mantilla, bordered with Venice lace, flowed from a headpiece of matching lace.  She carried a silk bouquet of white daisies accented with yellow roses and tied with yellow and white streamers.

Mrs. Ann Westheimer of Pikeville, friend of the bride, was matron of honor.  Bridesmaids were Mrs. Sherrie Kearney, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Ginger Gatlin, sister-in-law of the groom, both of Goldsboro.

James L. Gatlin IV of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, was best man.  Ushers were Kenneth Gatlin of Goldsboro, brother of the groom; and Charles Wood of Dudley, uncle of the bride.  Ring bearer was Eddie Wood, cousin of the bride.

The wedding was directed by Mrs. Nancy Vinson, aunt of the bride.  Mrs. Pat Cannon, cousin of the groom, presided at the register.  Scrolls and rice bags were distributed by Jennifer Banta, cousin of the groom.

After a wedding trip to the North Carolina mountains, the couple will reside on Route 11, Goldsboro.

The bride is a 1978 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School.  She is employed as a teller at Branch Banking & Trust Co. in Goldsboro.

The groom, a 1977 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School, is employed as a technical representative with Gray and Creech, Inc. of Raleigh.
