


Thomas Dail and Sarah Tripp are the earliest documented Dail family in Duplin County, North Carolina. Originally, Thomas and Sarah farmed and lived in Greene County, North Carolina in the late 1700s. Their farm was probably located near the present day town of Ormondsville, North Carolina, in an area called the Polecat Swamp, now called Polecat Branch or Creek. Ormondsville is between towns of Snow Hill and Ayden.

In the 1790s, Thomas sold all his land in Greene County and moved to the northeastern area of Duplin County, where most of his children were born and raised. Thomas Dail and his family probably lived in an area near the Mire Branch and Blizzards Crossroad.
