Sketch of Smyth Family History
Andy Smyth, my Great Grandfather came from N. Carolina to Humphrey County Tenn.
His children were as follows:
Hugh, John, James, Alfres, Ricjey, Abner, Alex,Jackson- Eight boys and Ibbie and "Pop" two girls.
Perhaps all these moved to West Tenn., Hugh later moving to Kentucky.
Hugh Smyth's children are John and Donald and Minerva, Jane, Telitha and Marthena.
John Smyth's children- Jane James L., Alex. Alfred Dickson (my father) and Albert.
James Smyth's children- .. Andrew Madison, Wilburn, Porter, Malinda (my mother) and Mahala.
Alfred S Smyth's children -- John, Pink, Jack, & Bob and Ann and Nancy Jane.
The above are the members of the Smyth family with whom I am most familier.
There are several older Members whose names are given above with whome I am not familier
but my father A.D. Smyth gave me their names.
My maternal grandmother's family name is Parks. I knew her as an estimable woman of strong character.
Her given name is Unicy. She had a Sister, Margaret (whom I knew) who married
Shelby Hicks and lived in Mississippi County Mo. opposite Hickman Ky.
My paternal grandmother's family name is McCracken but I remember very little about her.
James Smyth is my maternal grandfather & John my paternal grandfather, my father & mother
being cousins.
